No question a bolt on. He has simply slightly modified the snout to "accept" the NW 102. Not to mention the little porting he has done is negligible in power gains at his power level.

Poll: What is considered a ZL1 "bolt on"?

If the category is "Bolt On without Internal Engine Modification" then how exactly could this be something even causing a discussion...there's nothing "internal engine" about it?!

You can buy a ported blower and just "bolt it on", just like you can "bolt on" a ported TB.

100% bolt on, nothing was touched internal in the engine. Supercharger is a external bolt on

my vote was no.by this logic ported heads or cam would be consitered bolt on as which most people would say no.

most people consider bolt on. headers, intake, catback, TB, pulley, etc.

I consider bolt on anyting I can complete in my shop in a day tops. anthing I have to remove and then either send out or spend another day modifiing I consider a modification to the car.

by this logic a blower swap car would be considered a bolt on car as well. most people would can a ZL1 with a 4.0L whipple modified.

it is kind of semantics though as all of this stuff bolts on ha ha. so theoretically any mod is a bolt on. Last time I put a NOS kit on a car I bolted it on.

the snout I could be swayed on though for sure. porting the blower to me is no different than porting the heads.

The snout was "opened up" just enough to clear the blade on the 102 mm TB, not a full on port job. If anyone calls that an "advantage" then thats hilarious. There is little to no gains from opening up that small amount to clear the blade. Comparing this to a fully ported set of heads seems like a giant stretch.

I don't think it was stated anywhere that it was a large advantage and I agree with the hilarious part too. Because of the factory supercharger, we just need input as to what is a "bolt on".

I could buy off on that for sure. I was more thinking the whole superchager assemly. even though it does bolt on the mondern lingo of bolt on kind of comes down to each individuals perspective.

Honeslty I could care less about the whole bolt on argument. run what you brought has always been my thinking. I could car less about what is done but the modern car culture really addopted the thinking for sue. roll racing is wierd to me as races should have a set start and a finish but it is here to stay as well.

I grew up building cars so this whole internet culture where it is practially "cheating" to go inside a motor just makes me laugh. that's hotrodding plain and simple who cares.

i feel the pain chasing this class as it is so broad that people with just tires and an intake are competing with people with thousands of dollars in mods. i myself am probably going to be stuck in the spot im in for a while as i don't have any plans to further mod and im not going to run skinnies and slicks on my daily driver to close the giant gap between myself and #6 (t-power) on that list. that said i still feel that the ported blower is a bolt on and there are shops out there with ported ones they send you that you bolt on and send back the core same as a throttle body

Wow...the vote is really close. I really didn't know what to expect. I will put a ported snout on my car if it is deemed to be a "bolt on" for sure so don't think for a second I am mad about the vote.
