I had an similar issue when I traded in my 2010 2LT. I told the rep on my welcome call that I had onstar in the vehicle i traded in, he moved phone minutes from old to new, and told me he deactivated it, but I still got charged on November 1st. I called, explained situation, they actually did deactivate it, and refund the Nov 1st charge. However, I'm starting to believe they should have owed me money for the days between when I traded in my car to November 1st. But whatever, I'm fine that it's resolved now.

SiriusXm didn't even wait for my call. They closed account on the 2010 and issued a refund immediately. I thought OnStar was a GM company, you'd think they'd be on the ball a bit more when you trade in a vehicle that you have an active account on.

I have never had a problem with on star, if my car is stolen, they will find it. If you've never had a car stolen, ( I've had 3 stolen ) it is a nightmare and insurance does not cover the thousands you may have spent on upgrades nor the time and the police reports, then there is a waiting period to make sure the car is not found. If you do not have car rental insurance, you lose way more than what onstar costs.

I called the other day to tell them my car is in storage for the winter. I put it away about a month ago and won't need it till around April. The have already credited my credit card for the month of November and have me on a hold till April. Pretty good service if you ask me.

On Star and XM are great as long as you want the service and keep paying, the problem occurs when you decide you don't want their service and try to cancel. this is my third chevrolet with On Star and XM and the last truck i had i just canceled the credit card that it was linked to and had no issues other than the fact that i am still getting letters in the mail to renew service from XM about 4 different cars that i no longer have and getting atleast 5 phone calls a week from XM. Still on my free trial from On Star now so in about 4 months we shall see what happens when they try to charge my credit card that i had to report as stolen and now has a different number
