Why did GM decide to go with different engines on the SS...LS3 for stick, and L99 for auto. Since 2008, the Corvette had been running the LS3 w/both stick and auto - so why couldn't this been done with the Camaros? You would think it would have been easier for the factory to keep with one base engine for the SS. Explains why there is a power difference between the two and why you cannot get the NPP Performance Exhaust option with the automatics.

Also, anyone know if GM uses the L99 in other vehicles?
My 2011 Silverado had the L99 in it.

Why spend 800 on a kit to change to ls3 when you could get headers and gain the same power if not more and better sound .

Chevrolet SS and Camaro SS are two different cars.

Good lord GM should've just named the damn thing Commodore SS or something.

What about it?

There are only 3 V8 engines available for the Camaro.

SS Manual Transmission cars get the LS3 engine (No gas guzzler tax)
SS Automatic Transmission cars get the L99 engine (No gas guzzler tax)

ZL1 (both auto and manual) get the LSA supercharged engine (With gas guzzler tax).
