Top Problems

After reading all the disaster stories about Camaro convertible tops, I'm wondering if it's inevitable that I'll have problems eventually. I can't believe they didn't solve the problems by the second model run. But, apparently that's the case.
Anybody out there have a 2012 vert without all the problems?
Thanks, Jim

My car was built 8/11. I am the second owner with 15,000 miles and only thing done to my top was the TSB's. I checked the vehicle history of the vehicle before I bought it. The only issue I had was the touneau cover not staying on due to original dealer not installing the pegs that you hook the touneau to. They replaced my toneau with no questions.

My first 2012 which was built on 7/26/11 was nothing but problems and GM bought it back. My second 2012 built o 4/4/12 has given me 13,000 trouble free miles. Only rub on the top is from the rear deck and I am going to have that looked at but it is nowhere near having a hole in it. But one built after April 2012 and you shouldn't encounter the problems we did on the 2011's and early 2012 builds.

This may be a dumb question, but how do I know when my car was built?
Thanks.

I believe they implemented the fixes on the 2012s on the production line during the model year. Not every 2011 vert has problems and by the mid-year 2012s the problems were pretty well solved. If you aren't having problems then maybe you have a good top.

I certainly feel bad for all the owners that had top problems. Hopefully you have a good one and will have many years of trouble-free ownership!
