Well for starters, if you are getting jerked around, cause him grief so treat customers RIGHT, and ESPECIALLY seeing as how you are in the military or a vet. I did what you are thinking about, I went to a dealer in another city to get my car, not 7 hours away, but where the are fair and up front and above all, HONEST. I went from 1100 to 3000 in one week.

Find a dealer with allocation
I have been playing the waiting game for months also. My dealer lied to me and told me he had allocation and he didn't. I sat at 1100 for months stupidly. In ONE DAY I found a dealer that had my same car coming in on a cancelled order that would be going into stock. I am now at 3400 broadcast and should be driving the car by Sept- in ONE DAY. You need to find a different dealer and go from there.
Or, you could put a deposit down at a dealer with allocation and keep your other order and see what comes first. You aren't obligated to either. Good luck. Change can happen (and fast) if you can find a dealer with an open allocation. Don't cancel your order until you are SURE (by the Viz checking what the dealer is telling you). Also, the test drive is awesome. We have friends that have their Camaro 2ss/rs already and it is a HOT car!!!! Well worth the wait. Hope this helps.

I ordered from 3 different dealerships and continued to call around. Found a dealership that had a car being built the following week that was not sold. I quickly cancelled the other 3 orders and got delivery in 7 weeks.
I have had the car 4 weeks and have 500miles on it. Love it! |

I'll vouch for the smaller guy. I got a lot of mark-up BS from large volume dealers so I tried a smaller dealership that sells a lot more pick-ups than Camaros. The sales manager told me he had allocation and it would be pulled for production the next day. He gave me an out-the-door price and I said, "order it". The next day I was at 3000 on the workbench. 8 weeks later I took delivery of the car with no funny stuff (market adjustments, dealer add-ons, etc.) for the price quoted 2 months earlier.
The good guys are out there. Semper Fi!

I almost made the mistake of buying a car from out of state which was very similar to my order, all with exception of exterior color. Thank god I didn't and I stuck to this forum and researched info on the ordering and buying process of the Camaro. What you need to find out is if your dealer that you ordered from even has allocation for your vehicle? You have an order number already go to the viz and see where your status stands through the order checking thread(please donate to THE Viz). I always figured out my status before my dealer could call me and figure out what my event code was. I waited 3 months before my order went through as well. If your dealer bullshits you and trys to tell you otherwise than you know he is screwing around. There is only one way to order the car, there is only one process, only one set of rules that every dealer must follow. Your order is in the system, but your dealer may not have allocation, production has increased to a point where any orders made should get accepted after a 3-4 month wait. Gm has released many sets of allocatons. Luckily I made the R6P mark.

Murphy's Law Theory applies here.
![]() The minute you switch over to that other dealer, your current dealer will call you and tell you that you've moved up to 2000: Accepted by GM. Then it's only a couple of days later and you'll be at the 3000 status. I almost did the same thing because I had been waiting since February. And I had been number one on the list since May. So I just received my production date, 8/3, yesterday and I'm happy again. ![]() Trust Mr. Murphy!

I'm at a similar situation...I've been waiting 8 weeks for my car to go out of 1100. I am wondering If I order a car through a different dealer, what is the latest point in production where I could cancel my order with my current dealer and the car would not be made? I don't want another car like mine driving around the city, call me selfish...

i would say be patient, but at the sametime do what you want. Depends on where you live, if you dont have the car by end of sep/oct time frame, getting the car is waste because its just going to sit in a garage all winter.
