belly pan on a vert?

Has anyone here tried to mount a belly pan on a convertible? This is one of my winter projects and I thought I'd start by seeing if someone has already done it.

Are you referring to a panel that would go under the engine/front end to cut drag? If so then I think all the ZL1 camaro verts have one

No belly pan on the ZL1 vert. The added cross bracing interferes with the fit so it was left off.

Interesting, I assumed all zl1s had it. Would think GM could design one with holes cut for the cross bracing to run through.

My guess is that GM felt the cost and effort to develop a second belly pan just for the convertible didn't make sense given the smaller market for convertibles. Add in the fact that many tracks won't allow verts to race without some form of approved roll protection and I can kind of see their point.

We put on an aluminum pan to keep the air from getting under the rear bumper cover while going down the drag strip.
Also look at the last pic, and focus on the black subframe connection bars.
Along with the roll bar the car is quite rigid.

Hawk02 is absolutely right. My ZL1 vert doesn't have the pan So I am putting one in. The best option would be to be able to reform it around the braces but I lack the tools for that. I will probably just mount it under the bracing with spacers and a gasket. The front will take some cutting though as it needs to go up over the back of the splitter. The bracing is in the way of that which is why I think I'll have to cut.

Hi all,

I just finished my complete ZL1 Front end conversion, including Brake Ducts, Wheel liners and Belly pan. As it is pretty damn cold out right now I just mounted the Belly pan over the convertible bracing. Once it gets a bit warmer out I will use a Heat gun to warm the plastic and have it conform to the bracing a bit more, but in general it fits perfectly over the bracing already. Here are a few pics I snapped, you can see how the belly pan simply bows a bit over the Bracing.

FYI, all 2012 and up Camaros have the mounting holes for the Nutserts into which the Belly pan is screwed.

What is the plastic behind the diff an in front of the rear pan??
