You're still not getting the point ... Whether it's one tenth or 8 tenths of a second time difference, the fact of the matter is that this comparison is not equal. For example, if there was a Forum thread that said "2009 Dodge Viper vs. 2010 GT500", would that be an equal comparison? My 2009 Dodge Viper runs a quarter mile in the high 10's/low 11's, so your GT500 running low 12's would not be an equal comparison, right?

Listen, there is no doubt a GT500 (Super-Charged V8) will beat an SS (V8), but that's not an equal comparison. If you want to compare performance on a line of equality, then let's measure my 2010 Camaro SS vs 2010 Mustang GT which is a different story.

...and I was just correcting you. The difference is much greater than a tenth. I have maintained they were in different classes and not comparable the entire time; I was just curious as to why you would praise me at first for doing that, and then turn around and try to compare them yourself.

I wasn't comparing them. I was pointing out why it's not correct to say that an SS is only a tenth slower than a GT500. That actually supports my position that they are in different classes. If they were that close in terms of performance, I wouldn't be able to believe that.

Maybe, I'm not sure. It does, however, have the lowest price point of any 500+ hp car by a pretty wide margin.

Cobras have always been lackluster from the factory, however they have incredible untapped potential.

Aren't you going against what you say by comparing cars with over a 100 hp difference? the gt500 has 114 more hp than the camaro so you can't compare it, but the camaro has 111 more hp than the mustang so you CAN compare it? you are going against your own thoughts...

No, for two reasons:

1. (V8) vs (V8) is an equal comparison, not (Super-Charged V8) vs (V8)
2. Price Range (Monty Carlo mentioned this already)

The GT500 is in a different price segment than the SS. People who buy one arent necessarily the same people that would buy the other.


Where as with the GT it directly competes with the SS in performance and price.

the problem with this comparison is getting smaller...There are now STOCK LS3 camaros running in the 12's...not special tires, nothing. I think this is going to get very very interesting

high 12's and mid 12's are a huge difference on the race track. with some mods the ss would be close.
