Who can explain the "real" difference? It's been written in these threads a dozen times. Read some more, as it's out there.
Can you buy a kit to do the same thing as what the ported throttle body does? Nope. John B.

Thanks Johnny B - I was asking more about the physical difference. What is "porting" and what does the machinist actually do to it? I understand the performance difference.

I am sure it's more technical than that but can get an idea why it makes an improvement in performance.

Recieved mine yesterday, installed today & core shipped back for the next customer
![]() All I can say to Pete & the crew is WOW & THANKS!!!!! The car feels so much better at low rpm idle takeoffs (where before it lugged & chattered briefly before down gear change), it even now has cleaner shifts thru the entire rev band. I have a custom cat back magnaflow exhaust on the car, but no CAI like many others. This is a great improvement. I have to be honest that I was skeptical of this being as good as advertised, but now say it's the best low cost modification I have ever applied to any vehicle. As many others have said -- the car is now like it should have been from the factory. If you guys & gals are not already waiting, you can get one NOW from Mike Norris --> http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=242686 The sale went smooth, shipping was fast, and communication was great! |

Finally got my PTB - thanks to Pete @VMax and Matt @ RX. Installed in about 15 minutes. The difference is quite noticeably smoother acceleration and shifting (A6), with no hesitation anywhere in the rpm range. I love it. Thanks guys. Shipping the core back to you today.

Is this useful for an Automatic? Or is it only worth installing on stick-shifts..

I was the test sled for the LFX ported TB and I'm an automatic. This is particularly effective for autos to soften and/or eliminate the slight hesitation lag, or "dead spot", some of us notice from time to time when accelerating around 2k. See also, shadycamaro's post above.
