Hello The Stig,

About point 17 "Take the tape off while the plasti-dip is still wet. AKA finish your last coat and then immediately peel the tape off. This will prevent the plasti-dip from peeling off when you take the tape off an hour or so later."

Well, I tried to do it but the layers you sprayed on the way up to the final one, however, gets almost dry in the meantime so as scythezo6 says it is very difficult to do a clean job! I mean that you almost always pull out the plastidip at the edge of yor masking area. One way could be to cut out a template and put it on when sprying and off when done and doing like that between layers. Waht do you suggest?

Also, it is very difficult to have a smooth result, I got like "orange peel" effect on my wheels.....not too bad but not excellent work either.....

Hmmmmm honestly don't know. Peeling and reapply the tape seems like a lot of work.

When you pulled the tape off, did you pull it off in like an upwards direction? Maybe that had something to do with it?

I have found you can get a very sharp, clean line if you spray light coats near the tape line as you're dipping, then the final coat or two you spray heavier along the tape line. Pull the tape immediately, back and away from the dip (almost pulling the tape over the top of itself, but at an angle away from the dipped area), and voila, nice sharp line.

The dip along the tape line must be kept wet. If it's drying between coats, you're either waiting too long between coats or not spraying enough along the tape line.

Thank you guys,

I have seen some dip jobs really smooth here. I am impressed, as I was saying, my film is not as smooth. I used gloss black plastidip. I ll try to upload some pics later

I can find black or a couple of colors at Lowes or Home Depot, but I actually found the best variety at a local PepBoys.

They make gloss black too? I thought it was all flat colors and if you wanted gloss you had to get their glossifier spray.

Best price for black and grey are at a hardware store. My 4 cans were $5.99 each at Home Depot. I checked out Pepboys and they had more colors. $7.99 for black & grey, $10.99 for pink, red, blue, and the gloss coats.

Here are my 2014 LS wheels sprayed in black. Did this 2 Saturday's ago but wanted to wait until I washed the whole car to get a photo.

Plasti-dip: headlights (with gloss), tail lights, tail light bezels, hash stripes, wheels, spoiler stripe, bow ties, and reverse lights.

Only thing I actually spent alot of money on the whole car was the bumper.

I didn't like those wheels until now.

Do you notice a big difference in light output with the gloss Plasti-Dip'd headlights? I like the look but would rather be able to see

Edit- Also, does anyone know how close Plasti Dip Red is to Inferno Orange???
