I yell at my kids if they touch a bumper in the parking lot.

My Dad probably installed that reaction in me as a kid. He's never bought a car new and still treats them well. Not detailed every week well, but don't sit on/lean on stuff. He'd get mad at me as a kid if a friend sat on the trunk of their own car and tell me to tell them it dents it

Yeah it's a daily driver, yeah I don't baby it,

But this isn't a matter of damage, it's a matter of respect. If some dip**** dents my car due to leaning on it or slapping his belongings across it he's apt to get his skull dented.

People don't want problems? Then they shouldn't start them.

Most a$$wipe comments like these come from people who lease. They really don't give a damn about a paint job and assume we don't either. Not defending them by any means.

I have a good one. Its Easter we take the toy car to diner with wife's family at her aunts house. Wife's mom shows up instead saying i have something in my car for Laurie (my wife). She decides to take it and place it on the roof of the car witch would have pissed me off a bit but nothing crazy, but best parts she decides that its kinda close to the edge i will just push it across the roof to the middle well the staples in the bottom of the box put nice scratches across the top of the roof. I freaked out . I let wife tell them not to touch my car with anything figured she would handle it better then me. then told wife get it fixed in next 2 weeks or I'm going to dealership to get new car.

It comes down to respecting other people and their property. I wonder if the guy who was going to rest his boot on the camaro bumper would mind if a camaro owner walked through his house with boots on? Or to the person who can't stand without leaning on a camaro....how about letting a camaro owner throw on a pair of jeans and lean up against your big screen TV? I played hockey all through my teen years (goalie). I bought my pads, gloves, skates, etc so I knew how much sweat went into earning $400 to pay for my goalie pads (at 15yrs old in 1986). You can bet I let my stuff air dry and wiped off my blades and took care of it. Fast forward 27yrs and my camaro is being paid for by MY ASS and I don't give two shits if you get offended because I won't let you eat in it, or put your boot on my bumper .

I'm willing to bet 98% of the people who say "Its just a car" could never even think about buying a camaro because of price and drive a shitty car themselves!

If it's just a car why once in a while do I see people taking pics with their phones when I'm coming out of the store. If it's just a car why don't they take pictures of the other cars in the parking lot. I don't seem to get as many stares when I drive my honda civic...it's just a car too.

I think this says it all... the main person I hear it from is one of my girlfriends she kept encouraging my twin boys to hit my car with the basketball during thanksgiving (the boys knew better) but it was the fact that she kept doing it and when I started ti get irritated she told me... it won't hurt it chill out. its not the point!!!!

She drives a Chrysler pacifica.

I experience this all the time. MY wifey to be says to me why do you spend so much on your Camaro. It is just a car. GASP !!!!!!!!!!!! I don't believe in Violence but I need someone to knock some sense in her. I love her dearly with every fiber of my being. But when it comes to the car, me and her can not see eye to eye. Taken her to car shows, meets etc. She says she will never understand. I tell her my car represents more than just a car. It represents something that have taken me years to dream and to actually realize my dream by myself. It also shows with with hard work you can get anything. But being in love with your car has to be an acquired taste.

Oh helltotheno. Put your boot on my bumper I'm going to say something. Some people just have no respect for property or the fact that people work hard for decent things.

I have had Camaros and Firebirds since 1985 when we bought the '69 Camaro. All of them have been just cars. That being said, I would not put my shoes on the bumper of anyones car, no matter what the condition because it is their car. I had an older woman lean on the fiberglass rear deck lid of the 1969, and I politely asked her to not do that. You would have thought I had insulted her. OP, I get your point, I am just suggesting that my Camaro deserves no more respect than any other car, and they all deserve more respect that your car was shown.

I was this way with my 81' Malibu, 94" Tahoe and of course now the NEW Camaro. i think I may be a little more adamant about the paint on this one for a couple of reasons....

I saw a pair of 5th gens parked up and I parked by them of course for the photo op. They were a father/son out shopping each with their own Camaro. We chatted for a few, and pops leaned his ass against my front fender, I couldn't believe it. So I stepped over to his Camaro and leaned my ass right on it. It did not go over his head, he got right up from my car so of course I followed suit.
My friend Jan got out of my Camaro one day and her purse brushed against the paint. She looked up at me like "oh shit", and reached out to rub her hand where her purse rubbed. I go "NO" and she stops, then starts to reach for the paint again and I gave her the correction sound I give my dogs "AAACK" and she stopped again. "Don't touch it, just dont, any dust you move around there can scratch the paint".
She thinks I'm a little too anal about my car but respects the boundaries.

1. It's mine
2. It's mine
3. It's a 2014 camaro
4. Did I mention it's mine!!!!

Anyone experience the "it's just a car"?
I can see what he's saying. If it were a luxury or performance car, then that's unacceptable to say, but it's an american made $30k car.. I mean you see just as many of them on the road as you do mini vans....

sorry

Not always just with people that lease. My first Camaro I babied until I realized I don't intend on keeping it more than a couple years. So why protect it for the next buyer.

Don't get me wrong I really like the car and people get that emotion connection that makes them want pictures with it, but outside of a wash a week, it gets the garage and it's happy.

If this is someone's first Camaro I TOTALLY get your feelings though cause the 2017ish vette I get will be my garage queen, babied like no other.
