Allocation Concern
So I am reading all of the allocation information here on the boards and from what I have gathered a dealers order (if they have allocation) will go through and typically can go from 1100 -3000 in just over a week? Is this right? I ordered from a small town dealer(Lundquist Auto, Castroville, Texas) and I was on the waiting list at a larger dealer(Gunn Chevrolet San Antonio, Texas). SOOOO my question is would my order move quicker had I waited for September and ordered from Gunn? How many people here purchased from Gunn and what was your wait time? Also did anyone order fron Lundquist ? A little info here guys! Thanks

I don't think anyone can give a honest answer. No one really has a handle on this whole allocation thing. Personally I think they should of did it the old fashion way, first come first serve ...... IMO

I hear you on the concern. One day after I ordered my Camaro i was on the phone to my salesmen saying...."please tell me that this was an allocation order!" as it turns out it was and as you can see my progress so far has been very good. I learned a good lesson about research before hand on this one!!

You mean the fair and logical way? WAY too easy for GM; they have to make it into a trainwreck...

Don't slam GM....the allocation process is government mandated. Do you really think GM wants to limit the number of cars a dealer can have? They want to sell as many as possible, but thanks to the government they have to try to do it with one hand tied behind their back!!

This is a quote from the Fbodfather himself (in another thread):
"Again: Please: Pay Attention: These rules are not something GM dreamed up......every manufacturer has to allocate cars in a fair and equitable manner and they must follow an allocation plan. If they do not, they are breaking the law and criminal charges could be -- (and have been) filed." I am not an attorney and can't explain the laws of allocation, but do a search on this site or the internet and I'm sure you can find the info you desire on the allocation mandates.

I can assure you the way GM is doing it is mandated by nobody other than GM. Don't believe what they're feeding you.
If in fact the "law" says that they have to allocate in a "fair and equitable manner", then they are most definitely breaking the "law". |

I've done more than a little research. I don't care if it's "Scott" or Jesus Christ, if they are telling you that GM is legally bound to the allocation system they are using, then they are not telling the truth.
But if you'll read the very words you posted, you'll see that nobody said that GM is bound to the system they are using. It says they are bound to follow "an" allocation plan. Call me silly, but "an" allocation plan that seems somewhat appropriate, is "first come, first served"... It also says they must follow an allocation plan that "is fair and equitable". They failed. So no, I haven't "disrespected" anyone, except GM, who has disrespected me and many other members of this forum. Last edited by BlackCamaroSS; 07-27-2009 at 03:35 PM. |

I have tried to explain allocation so many times on this site before...BlackCamaroSS, you have no idea what you're talking about. Your play on fbod's words is nothing more than an idiotic attempt to make a company seem dumber than they actually are. Allocation is based on performance. GM says "if you sell more cars than the guy down the street, we will give you more cars because you are selling them faster and therefore making more money." If this doesn't make sense to you, I am very sorry. Please stop polluting our boards with uneducated rants about how bad GM sucks. It's not good for anyone.
