I wonder if any formal warnings have been given in this thread. I mean I said a lot less than most of these posts and got one...

I do however have to agree with the op in a way that the L99 doesn't give you that seat of the pants feel for how fast it actually goes.
That seat of the pants feel can be very deceptive. When I drag raced Harley's professionally my fastest bikes felt the slowest but the time slips don't lie.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt. I guess you did not know that posting a thread like this is not a good idea. This is a great forum to learn about our Camaro's and to discuss things in a positive way. This thread is negative. The title alone is a negative way to start a discussion. You asked for it and you got it. You posted a thread that puts down what a lot of members own. Just chalk it up as experience as to what not to post. Nothing new, same old stuff. Let it go and move on.

We're saying the same thing.

Exactly the same thing. Just like the deceptive "butt dyno"

Cool

At this point who cares and does it really matter? Kill this worthless thread that is only allowing for hate and unnecessary bashing.

We as a member of C5 should pull together as a team for what we represent; this forum should be used as a tool in which everyone should be allowed to use without any unnecessary conflict and this forum should be used to help individuals that are having problems or concerns.

If you want it killed, try hitting the 'report this post' icon on post #1 and explain why you want it and everything that follows it gone.

Suggesting psych evals now isn't helping your case here, and comes off like waving yet another red flag at the bulls.

Man, you LFX guys catch some serious feelings and really feel like your engines are "not that much slower" then SS's all the time..

Then you went to the track and woke up..

In what world is a mid to low 13 second car (L99 SS) remotely close to a high to mid 14 second car (LFX auto) in terms of acceleration?

Do you know how many car lengths 1 full second in the ¼-mile is? It's not even close. Sorry.

If you DONT care about the performance aspect of the car, then obviously it wont make a difference to you on a DAY TO DAY basis. But make no mistake about it, the L99 cars are SIGNIFICANTLY faster then an LFX V6.

The problem with the LS motor's is the torque curves are so flat you dont get that SUPER CRAZY FAST feeling "seat of the pants" so to speak.

This is no different then the days of the 4th gen and LT1 vs LS1. ALL the LT1 cars FELT faster and it was VERY deceiving, but ALL of the LS1 cars WERE and ARE faster. Same thing applies here.

Poppin back in to say this..

When I had a V6 everyone would ask is that a V8 blah blah...

Since I've had the V8 I've never been asked once.. I guess it's self explanatory.

Simply put, there's a huge difference.

99% of the population cannot even tell the difference between the 2 so don't assume it "self explanatory".

Since then ive driven a tune only l99 car, and was amazed at how much better it feels with a good tune. Still would perfer my manual trans, but stock auto vs tuned autos are COMPLETELY different
I test drove a 2012 L99 and it was nice, but it felt like it was lacking. I own a M6 GTO now and don't regret buying the GTO at all. And for me, the only part of the car that Camaro beats my GTO is trunk space.
I did test drive 2 different 1LE's and while they were nice I just couldn't justify spending twice the price of my GTO on a car with certain aspects I couldn't get over.

To each his own though and OP as long as you are happy with the car is the most important thing

"You LFX guys"....lol...don't forget about us LLT owners. Because we also own V6s, we are also completely ignorant of all of that stuff and don't know anything about the 1/4 mile or any of that stuff or how much 1 second in the quarter mile really is.

If I had to make the choice, I'd take the LLT over the LFX..
