I own a glass company, I can't tell you for how many years we have had to fix Safelite's screw ups because their techs work on commission and don't have experience before corporate sends them out to hack up people's vehicles.. |

oooooouch that sucks. I've had that happen to me before (not Camaro) but hallelujah mine was covered by default because I'm in Arizona. I noticed a small chip and within about 4 or 5 hours of it being parked in the Arizona sun with windows up, it grew up across the windshield. hopefully they'll cut you a deal. sorry to hear

Thanks, im pretty sad about it. Even though its low on the windshield it shines like a diamond and is really noticable

better than if it was summer... With the sun beaming on a crack, it will spread like wildfire. Still that sucks! Best of luck to you!

If you haven't already, be sure to ask for OEM glass. I've had cheap replacements in the past and they seem to pit much easier. All insurance might not give you the option... something to consider if you're shopping around.

I plan on getting a few more quotes, the quote that safelite gave me was a windshield for HUD, remote start, and auto dimming mirror.

I've only ever replaced one windshield and it only cost me about 150 bucks, of course that was an older truck. 650 seems crazy for a windshield, unless having the HUD makes it that much more expensive? This truck was a chevy with the radio antenna imbedded in the glass even.
I don't see what remote start or the rear view mirror have to do with the windshield though. |

Wow. I guess I'm "lucky" to live in MN. Insurance policies are required to be a maximum $100 glass deductible.

Had the same thing happen to me last week OP. The crack on my windshield looks almost identical.
Do I just go to GM to get a new windshield? I don't want them getting some aftermarket brand shit somewhere else, when I want the exact same windshield I have now, just not cracked..

On 20 DEC I got an early Christmas present- a rock finally hit my windshield hard enough to start a crack. Looks like by spring, it will be bad enough for a replacement.
The constant construction in eastern MA has produced what seems to be a perpetual state of gravel liberally covering the roads, in every town, at all times. Infuriating. The factory windsheild seems very easily damaged to me. The windshield in my '70 Buick was replaced in the early '90s. Roughly 100,000 miles later in the early '2000s it looked like the windshield in my 1SS (minus the crack), except the 1SS got that way in 18 months and 24K miles
