I'd also venture to say todays tires last way longer as well.
I understand the tec aspect difference between the cars. It was a joke. The '67 was a 327 Muncie M4. With the light rear end, you could go through all 4 gears and not go 10 feet.

The 70-73 are simply the best looking design of all time. I may be biased, but after owning several of the they catch the eyes from all angles.

It may look that way now, but it was very cool at the time. I remember drooling over an '82 Z28.

You need to compare it to the others cars on the road at that time. In the early 80's the Firebird was the Camaro's ugly cousin, the Mustang was just a shortened Fairmont and it looked it. Most of the Camaros on the roads at the time were from the mid-seventies and had those big, ugly, dodge-em car aluminum bumpers.

Trust me, when the 82 Z28 hit the streets, it was like a breath of fresh air. And yes, there was a 4 cylinder version, but only in the base model. I only ever remember seeing one. It was a huge flop and they dropped it after a couple years.

By '83, there was a L69 HO version with a 5 speed. By '85, there was a face-lift, an IROC version and Tuned Port Injection. By '87, the 350 was back, with TPI. The rest, as they say, is history. But, it really was the 82 Z28 that started the turn around in performance cars. Before it, every new year brought a decrease in performance. After it, every new year brought an increase in performance.

A '70-'73 Z28 with the RS package is just gorgeous! I especially like the '71-'73s with the front spoiler, tall 3 piece rear spoiler, and high back seats.

I especially like the 70 1/2 split bumper Z/28 with the 360hp LT1 motor and prefer the shorter spoiler in this color combo. This is one of my favorites. One of my classmates had one like this in the early 70's with headers and a cam and it was very fast. Although, the 1969 is my favorite and the reason I have a 5th gen, I think the '70-'73's Z/28, SS's, etc. could be some of the best deals in a collector car value at a reasonable price as compared to the 1st gens.

Ill always have a soft spot for the 4th gen cars.

The M6 LS1 cars can still hold their own. With a tune and decent exhaust they are nearly just as fast as current SS's.

As a "toy" I just cant find a better deal when cost, fun, and reliability are factored in.

I also like the 69 Z28's, iconic looks that defined the pony cars.

I am surprised a 2002 ZL1 didnt make the list. They were just bad ass.
