0-60

Has anyone actually had their 0-60 confirmed? I swear it seems quicker than 4.9

As a kid growing up in the 80's/90's all the 0-60mph and 1/4 mile times printed in Road and Track or Car and Driver were the absolute gospel. Remember , before internet.

It meant everything!

Not according to 50+ years of road, magazine, and manufacturer testing. 0-60 MPH has been a performance benchmark ever since cars started hitting 60 MPH in a relatively short amount of time.
Alot of things happen before 60 MPH during acceleration and it's a good way to determine the capability of a car. Anything after 60 MPH is simply hitting your shifts right and keeping the gas floored.

Stock SS's typically hit 60 MPH in the high 4's if they are launched correctly. Some testing has shown 4.5-4.6 but that's with perfect modulation of clutch/gas and perfect weather/track conditions.

There are a couple of apps that can measure it , like Dynolicouse ,but I have not played with it much yet.

The biggest problem with the stock SS's are the traction, I can go to 60 but have crazy wheel spin and the car shakes until gets traction... waste at least .5 seconds if bad and even .3 is a huge difference when talking about milliseconds.

4.9 is not an average 0-60 that I've read. Motortrend has the 2010 Camaro SS M6 @ 4.7 and the 2013 Camaro SS Hotwheels Ed. M6 @ 4.5. Car and Driver's article on the 2010 Camaro SS had the A6 @ 4.6 and M6 @ 4.8.

Very true...The stock perelli's are a traction nightmare if not at temp. Better tires and smaller gears will bring 0-60 times down drastically.

I have no idea. But I have done 3 13.5 1/4 mile runs with my stock '14 1SS. Now that I added a ported throttle body and the CAI since then. I have to go back to the track.

0-60 is one of the most useful measures of speed for establishing traction, suspension and power parameters to determine quickness. Also, this is the most used range on the street, i.e.; getting on onramps, etc. Unfortunately, the Camaro is not quick. So, when I want to go quick and fast I borrow my good friends Turbo S in my Sig. 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, stock with street tires.
