Temperature for applying plasti dip
Has anyone worked with Plasti Dip in cold temps? I'm curious if its workable during the winter months out in the non-heated garage. I'll be doing the below the bottom grill area to meet up with the ZL1 style splitter. I miss my Camaro and I want to do SOMETHING over the winter.

I just dipped my truck wheels. I did it outside and it was around 28*. No issues. Just had to wait a little longer between coats. You shouldn't have any issues, just make sure your first coat is thin.

Don't try to do something that you want to peel off the excess though!
Example if you want to spray your emblems and peel off the overspray around them it will not come off clean. Only breaks away cleanly if the plasti dip is warm. Take my word on that from the great white north.

I did my truck when it was 120 F in Phoenix AZ.
Needless to say that the plastic dip immediately started to orange peel. I called the manufacturer and they told me anything under 70 F plus low humidity. |

I had a problem doing mine in the cold but it was because the can was left in the car trunk overnight in about 20F. It came out very thick but I just warmed up the can with a blow dryer and then the next day I redid the lights and warmed up the can with just warm water.
You should try to use a blow dryer to speed up the drying process. It works really well. Good luck! |

exactly.. just sprayed my lower grill in about 30 degree's. when outside working make sure your can is warm. what i did was turn the car on and the foot heat on high. between coats i would set the can on my floor and it would warm back up... otherwise it gets chunky out of the can. good luck
