Removing Dealer Decal
Need to remove the dealer decal on the trunk lid, looks like a vinyl sticker.
Have used GooGone before to remove glue from emblems, but checking if this is good to remove this, or something else might be better. Also, guessing the badges on the trunk lid are stuck on and can be remove with the fishing line way? Thx |

If it is a vinyl sticker you should be able to peel it off. Dental Floss works as well as fishing line too. You can heat up the vinyl with a hair dryer to make it easier, just don't let it get too hot.

It would seem to be vinyl, but not like the stripes that come with the car.
It has a rough texture to it and almost seems painted on, but can't imagine any dealer would actually paint there logo on the car. |

If I buy a car that has one on it I usually do one of two things. Ask the dealer to remove it before delivery or peel it off as soon as I get home. They usually come off pretty clean if they haven't been on very long.

Don't use rubbing alcohol. I made that mistake and took some paint off the car.

Never had a problem with rubbing alcohol, in fact installation instructions to install emblems using 3m tape tell you to use it to remove wax and grease to clean the surface.

Right. That's what I thought too. I've done it 100 times on my other cars with no problem. Oh well I put a JRE emblem over it.

peel off, then all you need to do is use turtle wax bug and tar remover, let it dwell, rinse off. If it won't rinse off use a two bucket wash with grit guard on that spot and rub with mitt. Always re-apply sealant or wax after doing so, it says it won't strip wax, better to add a layer just in case because it does use harsh chemicals.
