Is that based on any information you have, or is that your guess?

What a great and interesting discussion. I would say I would not have predicted this much when the price was announced.
There are countless sources on the internet on business that will outline what it takes to put an automobile into the market place and do so with quality and meet customer expectations. It isn't rocket science. Fbodfather has tried countless times to tell us what it takes. A lot of hard work by a lot of people.

I'm going to have to retract that since I can't find the source of where I remember reading that.

My banhammer senses were tingling. I sensed there were trolls.
Also, the Z/28 is a premier track car. Anyone arguing otherwise is missing the point and perhaps not suited to it. The 4thgen Z28 was a leap away from the tradition of that name, and the SS was an even bigger leap, given that it was a reintroduction of a Super Sport in a lineup that hadn't had one in a while. This generation has set those traditions where they originally stood and brought back the legendary ZL1 moniker and mythical 1LE and even COPO track cars. Moreover, the RS is a desirable, attractive appearance package, which is what it has always been. I can't think of anything GM could have done better.
