I'm sure there are many more studies on overtraining on many levels, they are referenced all the time although I typically don't read them and chances are if I did, although I may understand the conclusions I might not understand the terminology. I suppose you could argue every study ever made on any subject but here is how I look at it. When I was a very young lad, I had a teacher who taught me that 2+2=4. I don't remember what book it was in but I'm pretty sure it was correct, I now can see for myself it is true. Now I have an interest in nutrition, again I have read it many times and know that there are 4 cals per gram of protein, 4 cals per gram of carbs and 9 cals per gram of fat. I have absolutely no way of testing this for myself, nor do I recall all the books that have made reference to this but I am quite sure it is correct. So I now have realized that sometimes you must rely on the knowledge and research of others that are more capable than I am. So when almost every training program I have read, or article from places such as The American College of Sports Medicine all the ways down to your average magazine on training notes studies on overtraining and acknowledges it as a reality I am pretty confident it is in fact a reality. Now for me personally, in the past, when I first started my weight loss goals, I was doing weight training and cardio quite frequently, my nutrition was where it should have been and the results showed it. I used various methods of calculating my caloric intake and made adjustments according to my results, I started to get burned out, I was sleeping well at night and even taking naps during the day, I also started eating more because I felt weaker rather than stronger. My caloric intake was adequate and as far as macro's right on, I started gaining weight but still felt weak and my strength as far as weight lifting stopped making progress. I started eliminating cardio and taking a day of here and there and everything picked up again. You can argue all day long why things stalled but in fact I was exercising way to much, now perhaps I was a ****ing idiot like was mentioned you had to be to overtrain but in fact I was overtraining. Now with my great wisdom I rarely have overtraining issues because when the symptoms I have learned are associated with it start to be known I know enough to back off a little, take a break, change my program or other various methods that prevent it. Just something I would like to add seeing that you are very fond of WSB, these are not my words but those of Simmons himself. In most gyms, the strongest guy leads the way, and everyone else tries to follow his program. What happens is, he makes progress and everyone else gets overtrained. At Westside, we use a particular weight and particular bar speed, and we control the volume by how strong you are. Last edited by CFD; 01-05-2014 at 09:09 PM. |

The only reason I'm wasting your time with this is to make further discussions not as lengthy, besides, I am bored because I should be working out now but decided I should wait until I see the doctor tomorrow morning just in case. LOL |

tomorrow morning at 10:00 am.
I still don't believe my regular doctor is stumped as to what it is, it is still very obvious and I can feel very odd abnormalities all around that area and the scar from the original surgery is very puffy as well. I'm not in a panic but something is definitely not right. |
