need help with transmission problem

Having a problem I haven't been able to figure out. I recently had a converter problem. Had it repaired and just got through putting everything back together. Took the car out for a test drive, everything was working perfectly. After about 6 miles stopped at a stop sign and went to accelerate and nothing, almost as if it was in neutral. Had it towed back to the shop, got it on the rack and started it and it was working again for about a minute and then nothing. Dropped the pan thinking maybe the filter wasn't fully seated but it was ok, fluid was still clean and everything looks ok. Started it up again and it worked again for a few minutes and then nothing again. Any clues on what it might be?

The wife's 14' GT mustang had the same symptoms ....at 5000 miles...she called me from work and said the the engine revs but the car barely moves.....as it was explained to me...the torque converter has a one way bearing that increases pressures in the transmission for the initial inertia to get the car rolling from a dead stop....after a week at the dealer and some "hard driving" it cured itself and so far hasn't happened again

Similar problem but not quite the same, in this case, the car will not move at all, even when the wheels are off the ground absolutely no movement whatsoever. Also when hooked up to a scanner it shows line pressure.

That's not the case, it has been checked, also the dic reflects the appropriate gear for shifter position. The car can be in gear with the wheels turning then in an instance they stop, no noise, no shifter changing position nothing on the dic such as limp mode or any codes etc.

Any other thoughts on this, I'm pressed to get it off of the lift at my buddies shop?

Yes, I got that after I finished typing a response, I type very slowly so that happens often lol

Anyhow, we got the tranny pulled again and don't see anything obvious, I was going to just throw the new converter in but after talking with Don at Slowhawk and a few others I decided to wait, drop the pan again and pull the front pump just to see if there is anything that looks like it could be a problem. It just seems where as it was working perfectly, then pulling and re-installing the broken converter after repairs and now this, that the problem may be converter related but I'm going to look around first just in case. Most likely next week sometime, I'm kind of under the gun to get it finished as next week I have several pre surgery appointments before I go in for a repair job myself. lol. It sucks that I'm just standing around while my buddies do all the work but I'm just not capable of doing much.

Torque Converter

I have had this happen to me before and it turned out to be the torque converter wasnt fully seated into the pump assy . Had to replace the pump assy. after I discovered what had happened and made sure the converter was fully seated in the transmission next time when I installed it . That would give the no line pressure code . Hope this helps .

It's not showing any codes and line pressure is normal for the selected gears
