Heads

Looking for some insight to my setup. Running AGP TT kit with 2nd upgrade turbo's 56s.

Everyone keeps stating my weak point would be heads (springs etc, pins etc)

Im just running a bap and at about 690 rwhp. Im looking basicly at this point to max out my dependability on my stock block for the time being. Next mod? Fuel? or rebuild heads? Also was thinking about meth and 3" exhaust.

Let me know you thoughts and if heads what parts?

2012 ss manual ls3

Thanks Levi

Definitely fuel. You will max out your fuel before you max your heads. I wouldn't worry about the valve train if you are still using the stock cam.

Squash is proven on multiple mid to high HP builds. Contact Andy and tell him camaro5 sent you!!! Going with Squash means you won't have to upgrade your pumps again.

If you are sticking with the 256s, get some ID850s or FICs of similar size.

Later when you rebuild worry about heads then.

Since you said dependability not power - what, other than people saying so, makes you think what you have isn't dependable?

If you price others out, for the potential of the Squash setup, they all come out similarly. If you go Squash, you won't have to buy another set of pumps unless you go for over 1500hp... also don't be afraid to run a return setup. They are super easy to set up and you can always go returnless in the future. In fact with the Squash setup, all you might ever have to upgrade is the injectors.

At 700whp, you are approaching the limits of the rods and pistons. The stock crank and block are much stronger in relation. Over on LS1tech, many people have bought a junkyard 6.0L block, threw a cam in it, added a big single turbo and made over 800whp. Stangkilr on here, I believe is currently running a "junkyard" 6.0L engine. It all boils down to adequate fuel and a good tune.

I'd go fuel (do it once and not have to do it again), suspension (do it once and not have to do it again), then heads/cam or rebuild/heads/cam. In that order.

ETA: or buy Andrew's setup. I have bought from him in the past and he is good to deal with! The ADM setup is good to about 900 to 1000 crank horsepower (with enough voltage).

Upgrade to a nice pump setup, kit already had 80lb injectors, more than enough to max out stock motor. Next steps would be upgrading pumps and then meth. Stock motor should do 750-800rwhp with a decent tune and octane.

Pump or e85? Pump probably around 900rwhp. I know at 1047 I was 76% IDC on my ID1000s so maybe even a bit more.

I'm running the base AGP kit with the LPE dual-fuel and ID-1000's (was going to do the ID-850's but was given the opportunity to up to the ID-1000's for the same price, so I did). I think my IDC was about 35% when running 606rwhp, not sure with the LPE (which I think is the same as the ADM). Plenty of room to grow BUT was told the piston ringlands and rings are much too thin to run higher boost/HP. Did the fuel upgrades to pave the path for the future (because what ya have is never enough).

What max boost are you running with your TruBoost? I had mine set to hit 9.5# but lately it's been kicking up to 11-12# in 3rd/4th gear on the interstate (not sure why it decided to jump). I need to dial that down (at 80% duty cycle now) before parts start flying. The added HP kick has been fun though...

Dres, you have plenty of room to go if you have octane and keep timing/afr safe. Meth kit and 750-800rwhp would be fun if you want more power.

Guess I didn't answer the OP's first question: Do fuel first (insurance), then heads.

Unreal: we have 91 octane pump here in CO. Was told by my tuner that it runs like 93 at sea level. Don't want to run meth. Timing is safe, AFR is safe.
