But really, first, or second makes little difference here. What does, is that technology is neither new, nor necessarily exotic. And one of its primary benefits (adjustability) won't be there (for the obvious reasons on a production car as only a few of us can afford to have a crew - albeit I have seen it done ![]() Having said that, it does make history for the Z/28 and I gotta believe GM engineers selected it for a good and Z/28 specific purpose (either dialing something in or out) vs just inflating the car's price. And that's just an assumption that it is more expensive. Given the top dog Z06 will be wearing GM's own, speaks volume to me. |

It will be more, $77,500 was the C6 Zo6 and that car will be 1 1/2 years old by the time the new C7 Zo6 is out, add 10-15% to the old price, at the first of the year most parts went up close to 8% and that is only 10 months after the C6 is done, so look for a $82,980 or more for a base Zo6 C7 car.

and i was trying to show how in no time at all, parts went up, so the cars are not going to do the same? Its not 1969, when a Z/28 cost all most as much as a home in L.A. CA, that same home today is close to $400K and the Z is less then 1/4 of the home. |

I too find it interesting that the z06/7 uses the Mags; perhaps they've been advanced, or tuned? PS Best looking Vette yet IMO

Correction - apparently it was if you could afford a ZR1 you can afford the new Z06 at least according to autoblog.

For a person who understands the value proposition, it's a steal. Just like the Z/28 is a bargain for what it offers. General fricken Motors, I would never have thunk it two short years ago. Well done! And about damn time. Anyone can win the race to the bottom, it takes real enthusiasts in the ranks to bring about the Z/28 and new 'Vette. A great time to be alive and a car guy.

The media seems mixed in their reports and some suggest the comment referred to the present Z06. We will have to wait and see.
Or call folks "in the know". I don't think that GM will price the new Z06 higher than a 911 (base for base) and put it out of reach of the many, many thousands of loyal C6Z customers. Albeit the top dog will likely fetch 6 digits (no surprise here). Note, the ZR1 ($111 base)sold in VERY limited numbers. I don't believe that's Z06's mission, given 3 trim levels offered. I absolutely love the new Z06 and as *usual*, the new model ups the ante very significantly! But frankly, it is a continuation of GM's first class performance offer: Vette, Camaro, Caddy V and now the SS sedan. Even in early 2000s, a C5Z was one of the very best sport cars bar none (and remains "uber" competitive even now). And how about the ZR1 and C6Z stellar track performance from the Ring to the local venues over the many years? And C5R and C6R's record LeMans and ALMS wins? Are folks only starting to notice them NOW?! But I am very glad that some new folks are enthusiastically getting on board. And if Z/28 played a role in this trend, then big kudos to GM for introducing it, no matter its price as a limited edition offer. |
