2010 1SS Camaro here, had it since June 2009 and currently over 33k miles. I had the battery cable issue and spoiler nut issue (both resolved easily under warranty), and a weird noise with my muffler system that was another known issue that was resolved under warranty. Other than that, the past 2 years have been problem free --- except for my cheeks hurting from the permagrin!

Hey there Big Bear! Mine, at 63,000 miles, driven hard from Crestline to Rancho Kook and back, every day, and so far, not a single issue. Admitedly, mine's an LT not an SS, so there may be issues with one that are not in the other. However, I tried diligently to find something wrong, but can't. These cars were developed by God Himself, specifically for the roads in the San Bernardino mountains. Contrary to the opinions of some, it does very well in the snow, too... as long as you've got some snow driving experience. Ya can't chain it, but some skill, perserverence, and resourcefulness will get you through a lot.

I too have yet adventure into the internals of an engine. Most of my car knowledge revolves around 4x4 suspension.

Most issues are small and will be fixed by the dealers/warranty unless of course you're into performance and modifying. Then theirs a whole list of upgrades you can do to "future proof" the reliability.

Cheers.
I'll read through that, thanks!

I'm always looking to learn. I just havent had anything go wrong with any of my car engines hence why I haven't bothered to mess with them.

If the 2014 Camaro didn't look the way it did(I hate how the headlights are squished down), I might, but I can only see the car going farther and farther away from my taste.

Sounds just like me, I used to drive from Big Bear to San Dimas Monday-Firday(170 miles daily)back when I had my Xterra, but a deer stepped in front of it and that was the end of him :c.

Now I daily drive an Armada and can't afford to spend 60$ per day on gas, so I just stay down the hill on weekdays.

The reason I'm looking to get a Camaro SS is to save on gas. Most people don't think of a muscle car when it comes to saving gas, but it will be better than what I currently get. 25 Gallons in my car will get me 300 miles....

EDIT: BTW, I love how active this forum is! My two main forums are very small and normally only see 2-5 threads a day.

I'd suggest getting a printout of the work done from a Chevy dealer. That way you can see what warranty work was done and if it has had any problems.

170 miles a day in a Camaro around Big Bear would be heavenly! I might suggest looking at a 2011+ with the Heads Up Display. The only time I got a speeding ticket in the 2 1/2 years I've had my Camaro was driving a rental car that didn't have one. Good luck in your search.

I would love the HUD, but since I'm looking at used I may have to pass on it.

I am on my second 2ss, never had a problem with either, and I belong to a website that periodically asks if I have any problems to report and keeps track of reliability and service issues. Of all the many people reporting in the Camaro is by far a better car than the mustang or the challenger in this area as problems are low to non existent mainly. And BTW... avoid automatic mustangs they bite.

I don't know if any of the 2010s had them but all the 2011 and newer 2SS should. IMHO the options of the 2SS (or 2LT for the V6) are worth every extra penny.
