OBX long tube headers

Hello everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with OBX long tube headers on the v6. Im curious about sound and quality. I have found a set with the cat delete kit. I currently have an MRT v1 on my Camaro and am wondering if these headers would be worth it as far as performance, quality, and sound are concerned.

OBX are good quality at a good price. As far as the sound, it really just depends on what exhaust you pair them with. LT headers will completely change the sound...it will be much louder, much more aggressive, and again depending on what you pair it with could be really raspy and have drone.

I can tell you, with the MRT1, they will be pretty loud.

As for power you should expect a good 15+ gain in HP.

Here are some videos I had listed in the exhaust stick thread of MRT1s paired with BBK headers which sound pretty similar to the OBX. Give them a listen:

- BBK long tubes / highflow Cats / MRT 1.0. (Thanks member MichaelH)
Rev

- (Another set of vids with the MRT1s) BBK long tubes / highflow cats / MRT1.0 / Hennessy CAI / Throttlebody space (AirRaid I believe?):

I think for the price and quality OBX is much better buy than BBKs. My BBK started rusting bad before the end of the first winter season here in snow land.

Hes selling them very ccheap so I'm thinking worst case scenario if I don't end up liking them I can at the very least break even by reselling them on here. I'm worried about waking my neighbors up come spring time seeing as I work overnight hahaha

I have the OBX headers. Working out good for me. Make sure you look to get the Magnaflow resonated X pipe to help control the rasp. All of my mods are listed in my signature, well most of them are, as I need to update it further now.

Check out my 1/4 mile pass for what I consider a great sound with our V6.

I recently put a set of the OBX LTs on mine. Very nice quality pieces at a great price. I like the tone, but I did order a resonated x-pipe to help kill the rasp it has from about 2500-4000rpm. I have them paired with Flowmaster AT axle back exhaust as well. I don't have any sound clips or videos of it yet.

The OBX LT headers do not have high flow cats. They come with a resonator pipe.

Right but is it possible to install high-flow cats instead on these particular headers? Like maybe Pypes minis? BBK is stupid expensive for me at the moment.

Good question, never thought about it or cared to do so. Sorry.
