Maybe they can explain it but I would guess that CamaroJT is able to do it because of a locked converter, -DA and some weight reduction. I have no idea how TRW does it unless he's locking a single disk and praying it holds together. 11.44 @118 on a Yank 3200 is just crazy if that's the converter he is still using.

Congrats to TRW and CamaroJT. Super impressive.

A converter that does its job doesn't need to be locked. Terry's is not locked and doesn't need to be.

Haha, skilled drivers. Even a monkey could drive my car. Some would say one does. You do need to know exactly what the car needs though. Setup, launch, etc, and that takes time and a lot of trial and error.

Figuring that stuff out along with good conditions, both track and weather, and you have a great recipe. Much harder than it sounds.

It takes a lot of effort to achieve these times. You have to WANT this to make it happen. The average person doesn't have the patience or experience to do it. Combination of parts has a lot to do with it also. Just picking parts from a catalog with no reasoning will not get you here.

Congrats to TRW and CamaroJT. Super impressive.
Me and Terry are getting to the same spot but in different ways. His converter is a smaller stall and unlocked, yet it is more efficient and has less slip than mine by far, which is 1 reason he pulls great mph, the other reason is ITS TUNED GOOD.
My converter does the opposite of his, mine hits harder off the line and then my slippage allows him back in, until I lock mine, then it's pulling hard!

There is no smoke and mirrors, just gotta have everything right. And then yes, you do have to be capable of DRIVING your car to a PB. Like SuperchargedSS said, a monkey can drive his car, but I bet that monkey can't lay down a record pass until he learns how to be perfect at his launch.

There are no 2 ways about it, a locked converter is going to trap higher and dyno higher than a unlocked converter. I don't care how big the stall is. I'm not saying there is any smoke and mirrors I'm just saying trapping 118mph with a single disk un locked bolt on L99 car is super impressive. Also, I know TRW can drive better than almost anyone but that's not going to affect trap speed very much. How do I know? because I drag race myself and mess up my launch from time to time. In fact, sometimes when my 60' is worse my trap is better.

True but some monkeys who make more power and have the right stuff still can touch these times. I meant skilled as in once they hit the track they know what to do. When Camarojt hits the track he is one motivated guy and IMO skilled. He can read his car and figure out when and where its ready to make a pass.

That I agree with. You need to know what works with the car.
