Yup. Just have to figure some things out. Get costs here for my block. May order a Forged piston rod kit from you soon. Or may wait and order the whole thing. just depends on what the machine shop here says as far as cost.

I can order the kit and have him bore to that size. etc..........

I know this is a stupid question but how hard was it to remove the motor? I am going through the same thing my self and can't afford to pay someone else to do the work

Pretty easy once you break it down enough. I removed the heads before so the tranny bolts were easy to get to.

The top center bellhousing bolt is the hardest. I got it out from the top passenger side with a blower, and the heads on pretty easily. I just had to remove the coil packs to get my meat hook in there with a wrench.

Nothing new.

I'm saving my money and just going to buy a Livernoise long block when the time comes. Our fearless leader has saw fit to take a burdensome money from me each month so it is going to be a long while until I get the money saved. Every time I get close to deciding to borrow money for it I just can't pull the trigger.

I'm starting to caniballize it though. Not for money but to help out with some other people.

Let's do this.

Ok, the Emperor and the supreme health care law has changed the game. If I'm ever to get this car going it will need to be now or it will be a LONG time. I have saved what I can and need to try and get it done. Car has sat for 6 months and I risk things starting to get stale from non-use. I don't see myself affording much over 8k and I still have to buy injectors, a pump, and tune it.

So how bout this?

Compression ratio is kind of low but I was going to go with a 419 so staying at the same volume should help with the lower cr right?

Is 9.0:1 too low for a TVS2300?

I think the 9:0.1 is to low. Even with the low end grunt of the TVS blower. Why don't you just machine your block, reuse the crank, pistons , rods and put it back together. Done with money left. You don't drag race, doesn't look like you have time to start soon either. No reason for a stroker. You're trying to stay within a budget and do a serious build up. It never happens. Get it going and drive it fool.

I'd like to but I don't want to have to pull it again. Plus buy a new cam, pushrods and such. To have the block cleaned and readied and new bearings for the crank, rods and cam would all cost money that I'd rather used to just drop a decent long block in and go. Then I'll at least be ahead of the game for later.

No I do not plan a lot of drag racing, maybe a pass or two at the fest. BUT later I can boost it up and go from there. If I don't spend it now Bonnie will get ahold of it.

Why would you need to pull it again? You should never have to. Having a machinist check and hone the block isn't a lot of money. And neither are the rest of the parts. You don't need the best, good will be more than enough.

I do understand the ease of dropping a long block in and being done but if you notice most of these guys have stuff built. Only a couple opt for off the shelf stuff.

What happened with livernois?

She's taking your money now or later so just accept it!!

Yes she is. lol

Well the engine is laid out down to the pistons right now. I want to end up with a forged bottom end to run more boost later. So if I buy a cam, push rods, lifters and such now and put in new bearings to get it going then to go with a forged bottom I'll have to pull it later.

My thinking is it'll probably cost me around 3k to get it going as is (I'm guessing, could be more won't be much less) and I'll have a stock rotating assemble with limited potential. In order to forge the bottom end later I'd have to pull it.

It's spend 3k now and more later plus have to break it down again or spend 6k now. Since I have it I'd rather go ahead and do it now and save slowly for a replacement later. It'd be nice to get a replacement fund going so I can be prepared.

Livernoise was 9k. I want my car back to drive. But again, I need a fuel pump, injectors and tune. So for 8 to 9k I could be done and have a good street and occasional track set up.

Now I'm confused. Put it back together with forged pistons and rods. Using your block and your crank. That won't cost much plus it will handle more boost than your blower can make.

Don't reinstall anything but the crank. A machine shop could assemble and do the machine work for not a ton of cash.

You can have a built ls3 for a couple of bucks. Not 8 grand.
