I think it's the axle as well. How much did the repair run you out of curiosity?

1hr of labour + the cost of the axle, which i had to source myself as well because they said "theres no stock of one in the country". The frigging car is BUILT here in Canada and there isnt a single axle anywhere?

I bought one locally, original OEM GM and brought it back an hour later. In total for the axle + labour it was a cunt hair shy of $500.

I was driving my 2011 SS with a hurst shifter when I suddenly heard a pop when changing from 1st to 2nd gear. I was in higher revs in 1st gear before switching and I believe the pop may have been before the actual shift. Now I can let the clutch out completely and the car will still run. It will not kill it. You can also hear a "whirling" sound when attempting to take off as well (with the clutched disengaged). The car will hardly move. I can enter any gear normally, however. Any suggestions on what it might be? The car has 33901 miles on it. Possibly covered under warranty? My driving habits are nothing out of the ordinary. I drive normally and never really race it. I get on it every once in a while but nothing crazy. I'm decent with a stick as well. Any idea what it could be?

Thanks in advance!

Axle more than likely.

If GM doesn't warranty it I'd look at the guys from GForce to get a set of replacement axles that won't leave you stranded.

Hopefully GM will warranty it, keep us posted!

Hey hope it isn't the clutch, something similar happened to me basically the engine would run I could put it in gear but the clutch pedal didn't engage anything so the car just sat. I could get it to crawl a little in third but I didn't mess with that too much. For me, it ended up being the clutch which is not covered. Chevy told me a was a "wearable" item like brakes pads for instance and would not be covered. I also had an issue with the clutch pedal later on but in that case the car wouldn't turn over. Anyways I hope it's not the clutch, and I hope it's an easy/cheap fix. Cheers

If it is a broken axle, be careful trying to get the car to move, if you're sitting there spinning the rear end in third you're probably toasting you're clutches in the differential.
