GM 2014 3.6L Twin Turbo build animation

I'm new here and new to Camaros so I might be way off but
I'm seeing some chasing the almighty HP so....
Is this the same motor (LFX)?
If so it looks like GM has done their homework for you.
Thoughts?

That would be the LF3 twin turbo v6, heavily based off of the LFX, but some changes were made to beef it up... From looking at this video, all of the important stuff from the LF3 may bolt right onto the LFX, which is what I'm holding out for...

As RcnJsn said above, that is the LF3 engine, but based on the LFX. There are quite a few differences though, as the LF3 has stronger internals and such, along with all the extra cooling and stuff for the turbos.

That said, the LFX engine does good with forced inductions. There are some boosted LFXs here running pretty impressive numbers.

Thanks for the reply's.
I'm new to this motor.
Apparently the 2014 shop manual wont be available until September.
I noticed the LF3 has four bolt mains, does the LFX?
What kind of HP does the LF3 make?
Guess I could research it(for fun) but for the sake of discussion it would be interesting to see just what the difference/similarity between the two are.
Then there is the small matter of the trans.lol
If the LF3 uses the same block I'm surprised someone somewhere hasn't slammed one into a Camaro....
Evil grin.

There is a ton of articles that have been written about the LF3 engine... Here's a Wikipedia entry on it. If credible, it shows most of the changes made from LFX to LF3...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General...ure_engine#LF3

If you pay attention to the video you posted, they are actually 6 bolt mains. Almost seems like a GM standard now a days, several engines have been 6 bolt main since the LS engine series was introduced. The LFX also has 6 main cap bolts. LF3 rumored at 420hp/430tq.

I don't imagine GM would stray too far from the LFX, trying to utilize as many currently available parts/molds/castings/etc as possible to keep the cost down rather than designing a completely new engine such as the new LT1.

The LF3 is too new IMO for people to be slamming them into Camaros just yet. No junkyard engines available, etc... However, that's not saying that as soon as GM starts selling parts for it over the counter, that many of those parts couldn't be either bolted right on or easily adapted to the LFX engine.

I've been waiting for the LF3 engines to roll out for quite a while to see if parts can be obtained, and adapted to the LFX...

Thanks RacnJasn, sounds like you know your stuff.
I stand corrected there are 6 bolts going into the main bearing caps, don't know how I missed that...Apparently common now with overhead cam engines. Who knew? lol
Great link too. Thanks.
