ZL1 for $37k?

I do think the interioir refresh from 12 to 13 made the 12's take a hit in value. You can now find used 12' & 13's. And with the mylink the 13 is much more appealing than the 12.

I wouldn't put much weight in an auction price. They are bringing more on ebay than 37k

I recently saw a 2012 ZL1 for $39,000. One owner, clean carfax, 15k miles.

Zl1s are abundant in my area. I personnally know at least a half a dozen zl owner's and see a dozen or so more that I dont know. One closed auction here for 37k and it only had 30 miles on it meaning the dealer drove it to auction.

It was 2012 GM test car so has a salvage title and that's why they said it went so cheap although there was nothing wrong with it. Somebody got a real good deal.

Why do you think because it was a test car it had a salvage title? It arguing, just wanting verification this is fact. If so,makes sense, and I think that would be high for a car with a salvage title.

The dealers have them and they aren't hard to find. I believe the reason you may not see many on the road is not a lot of folks want to pay $60k for a Camaro.....and now with the new C7 Corvette - I bet some folks who may have been interested in the ZL1 turned to the C7.

Its funny how those that drive a model thats got a base price of almost half the amount,and number in 100,000 call a car that GM has only had produced around maybe 4000 or so far guessing and will be stopped most likely in the next couple yrs not special. yet its faster handles better and has set records all over the place beyond true super cars costing 100k to 300k or more. I guess the Z28 wont be any big deal either since they have been produced forever in difference Gen's..The ZL1 has always been consider a future collector car,do a little research..I guess the copo is not either since its just really a gutted GEN5 race car and not a street car like the first copo's . they sold dirt cheap for awhile even until yrs later...Most america cars no matter what it is drop in price,and 20 yrs or 30yrs from now a ZL1 with a few thousand miles on it will be worth double the MSRP...Heck even the copo's have dropped in price after they are sold sure some nut paid 700k but that's nothing new when its a write off for the rich and helps those in need..Look what the first ZL1 sold for,lol...Talk about a loss... I agree even as a ZL1 owner myself that prices will drop and those used everyday and raced with high mileage or whatever are going to be worth jack in a few yrs but still almost or more than a new base ss...
One thing is that some may of thought these cars would not get driven every day so when they get mileage on them the price drops faster..J-Imop
another thing is even if they make 10k ZL1's the over seas market for america performance cars is very strong and will help to increase the value of these cars in later yrs...Its a world wide market so If i was looking to keep it for the long haul I know I would be able to get my money out of it as little as i drive..It may have 4k on it now but since oct its only had maybe 100 miles total...Being in a wheelchair driving gets harder all the time,so i would guess if i was not going to sell it come march it would see less than 100 miles a yr over the next 20 yrs if that....

Performance cars are always a hard sell,its a small market when you start to get into cars that are S/C and get 12-16mpg...A lot more people can afford a 35k ss but 60 or 68 w/tax for a vert plus gas tax & your looking at a $800 to $1100 car payment depending down,credit,and other factors..
A lot of people put them away,plus remember there is how many now 4000 and counting thats not a lot in a country of millions and millions of other cars....Some smaller towns there might of only been 1 sold period as its a small country dealer that sells to mom,pop and the farmer...Even in Houston I have only seen 3 on the road and one was mine....
I have seen more at the tuner shop than on the road...

The document you attached in multiple places says "Bill of Sale" and "Scrap Titile" provided for documentation. So it is sold wihtout a title and you have to go through inspections, etc. to get it titled, and it will likely end up with a branded or salvage title. That would explain why they sell for $37k. Really need to have facts when people post this stuff. Could have been the same car in a mecum rerun show for all we know.

And on auto trader.com there are 39 listed for sale within 100 miles of here, both new and used. So really they are not that rare.

Your statement makes no sense,we are not talking about how hard it is to purchase one,its about the production number to date which around around 4k...
Heck i can type in a zip for south Fla and find 30 'for sale does that mean they are not a low production collector model ?....One Of the largest dealers in south Fla keeps at least one of every color and model in stock all the times,and can custom paint and pretty much build the lambo at the dealer..
The point is that compared to the plain old ss the ZL1 is a low production model and rare ,not so rare that they cant be found but your using a site that every body in the country uses,like ebay...one day i looked at there was 5 next week there was 25 ....yrs from now when they have made 150k gen5 and the ss is worth 2500 bucks the ZL1 will be one of those cars like the GN people say i wish i had or used to own, it might not be like the GNX but only time and our own love of the car will decide its price...Who ever thought a freaking dumb VW van would sell for 100k but they now are as dumb as it is for a 45hp 50mph van,lol....in 1989 they were 1500 bucks...
all it takes at a few auctions is for a couple of loaded guys who want the same car 4 or 5 times and demand goes up all over...as does the price..
The bat car went for what 5million plus nuts its cost 2000 to make the things,and it was listed to go at 60k...although some thought 100k at a couple nuts blew it out of the water..

I just find it incredibly hard to believe that many modern cars will become classics worth much in the long run. The performance and reliability cannot be denied, but they feel cheap and plastic. Classics feel solid, they don't dent when you lean against them. They weren't totalled when they bumped into something. They were crafted from steel and had bumpers, not molded and injected.

A Rick Hendrick dealer in the SE US has a 2012 coupe for $45k with 12k miles and a 2013 coupe for $47k with 3k miles. Since the mark up on these are in the $6k range it would seem the trade in value is in the $39k to $41k range for a very low mileage 2012 and 2013 respectively.
