fuse box

Okay, i was using a plug in tire inflator and I plugged into the forward power outlet (located just below a/c and in front of stick) and I blew a fuse. I then checked the owners manual and saw that this fuse box is located under the instrument panel all the way at the end by the drivers side. I went to pull the box and noticed that it appears to be located real high under the instrument panel. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get to it. I have not tried because I don't want to screw anything up. BTW, if you are going to use a power outlet for a tire inflator use the one under the arm rest compartment.

I just wired my radar dectector. The fuse box is super easy to get to.

-Open the drivers door.

- Look at the dash. The panel that faces the door when you open it pops right off, the fusebox is inside.

- Grab the bottom of the panel and pull. Three clips hold the cover, and the cover pops right off. The inside of the cover has a chart of all of the fuses. The two accessory ones are right in the middle.

- It's also on page 9-45 of your owners manual.

BTW-

2 Interesting things. The dash ABL connector is right above the fusebox behind the panel. It is ready to go, just not plugged in. I had my multimeter out, and verified that the connector works with the ABL dimmer switch. (Where are our vendors with aftermarket kits for the dash lighting. It should be plug and play!!)

When you open the cover to the fusebox, the Onstar fuse is there. There was some question about how to disable it. I didn't try it out, but I believe this would be the place.

I bet GM left it like that for future development, maybe the 2011 model would have a complete dash ABL or they might release it later this year. anyways its good to know that its there.

I kind of hope Onstar won't be that easy for car thiefs to disable...... Kinda pointless if all they have to do is pull a panel off and pop out the fuse

Yeah....

I like Onstar, so I will leave mine on. But now people know where to look to disable it in case they don't pay there car payments or feel like going OJ on someone.....

Speaking of fuse boxes, is anyone familiar with the newer Zo6's and how there is a fuse for the baffles in the exhaust ? I was told if you pull that fuse those baffles are wide open and the car shakes things apart ?? True or False ?? Second question is, do the new Camaros have that same fuse that can be pulled ??

True, but the Camaro is lacking a dual exhaust mode, meaning the baffles open up at 3000 rpm and close under 3000 rpm , thus dual mode exhaust,
I have a bypass switch installed that keeps them open at all times, sorry to say this does not work in the Camaro

Didn't even know about the inside fuse box, after I found it and pulled F-13 - IT WORKED! My iphone is now being recognized and controlled by the head unit like it was before. No reseting of the clock or anything like that.

Not to bring out something that will help auto thieves, but onstar works through satellite signals. Hence.. the shark fin on the roof. All the would be car thief needs is one swing with a hammer, or large rock to break off the shark fin, and onstar is gone.

I was just told that yesterday by the technician installing lo-jack on my car. I have onstar, its all nice and all, but ill keep my lo-jack just the same.

It's actually cell phone through verison. If you are a verison customer you can add your car to your family plan, the min. are much cheaper that way.
you are right rip the fin off and by by signal.
