When did camaro production start?

I have an early 2010 2ss model. It has a build date of 5/09. I was wondering when they started the production of these cars?

Per Wikipedia, Coupe production began on March 16, 2009.

There were pre-production vehicles prior to that though.

Don't know a date, but based on a post from a couple years ago, it looks like it was sometime in the Sept-Oct range.

Poster stated that their vehicle had both badge and chicklets and was manufactured in Sep 2009. Another poster stated that their vehicle had performance badge, but no chicklets produced in Oct 2009.

Estimated to be around 52-55k units produced with GM performance badging.

When did camaro production start? Answer -June 1966

"The first-generation Chevrolet Camaro appeared in dealerships on September 29, 1966, for the 1967 model year on an all brand new rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform and would be available as a 2-door, 2+2 seat, coupe or convertible with a choice of six-cylinder and V8 powerplants".

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but is there any way to tell the exact date that your car rolled off the assemble line?

I have a 2010 LT1 that has a build date of 1/2009 on the door tag and the VIN ends in 00163, so I think it's one of the first few.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Standing in front of your car, look down on the passenger side to the subframe. There is a sticker with your "born on date". It will show you the time and date your car was built.
