Dealer Told me this was normal

I had a flashing check engine light from an apparent misfire, dealer said it was normal and a lot of Camaro owners have the same thing, nothing to worry about...

Since dealers are evil liars to begin with, your question is already answered. I'd simply say show me in the owners manual where it says that is normal....

FLASHING CEL? No, it is not normal and it is not good. Catalytic converter damage is the usual risk if I recall.

Guys come on, be serious.

It's perfectly normal...

If you drive a 15 year old Chrysler product with head gasket problems and fouled spark plugs.

NOT normal. Not even for a 'hiccup'. Whatever causes that type of thing does not just come and go. I'd try and nail it down better.

It might be something simple but something definitely needs to be fixed. Lose or cut hose, bad gasket, broken spark plug yada yada yada, something caused it.

Unless there is more specific info we are not getting.

I would seriously consider using a new dealership from now on.

Think of it this way, if it was normal, the threads for it on this forum would be long and numerous. I would run from that dealer.

I'll be the 4th to say this: Go to a different dealership, and don't ever go back to that one. That's MAJOR BS if I've ever heard any.

FLASHING CEL usually means a very urgent problem.
Steadily illuminated yellow is usually a lower priority problem, but a problem regardless.
Red lights usually mean shut the car off and call a tow truck.

did they pull a code? what was the code?

if it's a one time thing, I wouldn't worry about it. 90% of the time it's an emission issue or errant sensor error that doesn't hurt anything. if it keeps happening, they'll have to fix it.

I would agree but for one thing. The light was flashing.

I have had my Stabilitrac and TC lights go crazy before and then shut off once the engine was turned of and back on but the flashing CEL should leave a record. It's not impossible for it to be happenstance but certainly a flashing light deserves to be investigated.

The only time my CEL flashed was just before I pulled the engine due to a bad cam and no oil pressure.
