It could be a number of things from a cracked spark plug to a plug wire or sensor wire being loose, it could also be because something really bad is going to happen on the horizon and it just gave you a heads up......... No misfires are not normal on a new fuel injected car. I had a 2006 ford f15o Harley truck had a misfire..plug was cracked, turns out they made two piece plugs, and it cost $20 a plug and they over estimated the life of the plugs being in the engine, I had 65k on it and they were supposed to last until 100k....they revised that and now coat the plugs tips with goo to help stop them form breaking off in the head when you try to change them as they build up so much carbon on them. Cost me way too much...like $460 for a spark plug change as they had to camera and suction four broken plugs out when doing the tune up at the ford dealer. And I think it might have been more, cannot remember just wanted to ditch it though it was a great ride the thing sucked gas and was not a real powerful motor like 300 h.p. for a 5.4, ( the next model year they supercharged them as they were lame .) Just a story and a word to the wise one misfire can lead to another and another......... Or a trade in to a Camaro.

My 14 does this all the time...I get an on star diagnostic ASAP when it turns flashing. But it might just be the gay gas cap sensor

After reading all of these posts...is the diagnostic from on star lying? I haven't talked to the dealer yet but it's only happened twice on my 14 for about 8 seconds

Well, I've never had the problem so I didn't answer the poll. But if "normal" is their way of saying 'it happens all the time', that doesn't make it right.

I recall complaining about the "normal" notorious dead spot in the 1,000-1,500 rpm range of my 2012 1LT. The cure came along (at my expense, of course) in the form of the VMax CNC Ported Throttle Body. This begged the question: why couldn't GM have done that to their throttle bodies from the factory, and why isn't it a warranty fix to cure the "dead spot"? The short answer I got from GM was: "The factory throttle body meets the design specs". Well hell... that may be, but it doesn't make it right. It was obviously an engineering flaw in the LFX engine design which GM did not care to address - no doubt due to the cost to repair it.

So, while the misfire would certainly not be "normal", you may have a difficult time getting it corrected under warranty. I would continue to complain about it and document the responses you get when you take it to the shop. Good luck with it.

Look at it like this, if it was normal would it throw a CEL? Probably not. Find another dealer.

So then, it must be normal for your toes to be pointed in the opposite direction from your face?

If so, then missfires must be normal!

report this dealer to GM please. dont let them do this to some one else. A CEL is never normal and should be addressed immediately. dont drive it around until fixed. I would ask another dealer to toe it to there dealership for a flashing CEL. this is a perfect thread for one of the service reps on here. give them your info.

Did the CEL go away? Did the dealer check it and find no codes? Did they look at it at all?

....during the sub zero temps we had in Missouri last week my car sat in my garage for a week ..started car last day and pulled it out to the driveway, sat about 2 hours then started it again to pull back in and it sounded like a different car, a deeper sound like i had a ghost cam in it..i noticed the flashing cel and quickly turned car off ..Started it again and it started normal and has not did it again ....dealer said that several camaro r reporting the same thing and its normal and Chevrolet has not figured it out...my dealer is not an idiot hes actually a friend and a real stickler when it comes to this kind of problem ...
