I've met a few new Corvette owners at weekend auto-x, etc.....First time at a track ever with a new 'Vette to boot, and they are having a ball....I'm sure the driving school for new Vette owners will have a lot of takers....Good luck to them all...

Most Capable Street = irrelevant Most Capable Strip = minimal interest at best What it doesn't have is a substantial part of its appeal. But like the Harley riders say, if this has to be explained to you, you aren't going to understand it anyway. Yes, the ZL1 is your "right Camaro". And that's fine (coming from a Mustang owner, no less). Zfatuated - More to topic, thanks for posting the HOD/Corvette partnership along with specific mention of NJMP, which is only a little over an hour's drive for me. Do you have even a rough idea what might constitute "if qualified" in the following excerpt? Is it as simple as making a favorable impression on an instructor during the first session? Quote:

I've run with HOD (N. CA) many times, I cannot speak highly enough about them. It's a great organization.

Nice announcement, Zfatuated, about HOD and the Corvette. I am really glad to see Autobahn listed since that is my home track. They are one of the groups I track with and are a very well organized group.
Because of pricing I am on the fence between the Z28 and the Z06, but that is for another thread. But at least by hopefully tracking the base Corvette one could get an idea how good the Z might be. Norm, no matter how many times it is explained, these folks will just not get it. BTW, I do not know if you guys have seen this yet but I am trying to separate the Dragstrip and HPDE sections. Maybe is we separate out from those folks that do not get it we will not have to put up with them as much. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...=339002&page=2 T.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same. Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different. |

May I add 1-2-3 more things the ZL1 also offers that I don't want and will not hear/experience in my Z/28: The eventually gets old (to me) whine of a supercharger, the possibility of an infernal/internal clacking supercharger coupling (Service Manager: "Clacking? What clacking? I don't hear any clacking. That's normal."), and heat soak. |
