Anybody watch Survivor? lol. Only part I can watch on American Idol is the auditions...after that it loses my interest.

Ugh cant stand survivor too much bs imo. I can watch the whole way through American idol and basically all of the singing competition shows cause I was in choir for a long time in school over 7+ years of singing and what not so it nice to see real talent shine and picking out who is flat or sharpe or off key and out of tune or sings a wrong note. I kinda wish they had a normal person for a judge cause that who ultimley votes for the winner is america

Lots of really great singers, best crop yet, but they have to have more than just a voice. The whole package, stage presence, charisma, that spark in their eye and heart. Looks like it's going to be a really good season to watch!

I'll admit, I'm a little prejudiced. I'll be pulling for the three Alabama boys. They all made it through last night again.

Really? Several from Mass, but that's meaningless to me. I want the most talented one to win, don't care where they're from, if they got all that it takes to be a star and I'd buy their music, that's the person I want to win!

I guess I don't understand the question mark. Yeah, I'll support the guys(or gals if there were any) from here just the same as I do sports teams or athletes. I always pull for the hometown team. That being stated, I don't vote in that stuff so I don't impact anything. But it's cool we have two winners of Idol from Alabama already, I'd like to see a third.

However, not sure I'll stick with watching it. Not their fault. I'm stuck on the Olympics right now. If I go two weeks without watching a show I usually don't go back to it. I don't know why.

I completely understand what you're saying. Most folks don't root for who is really the best, they pick a favorite for one reason or another, and stick with them. This is especially true in sports. Most folks aren't "sport fans" but actually they are "team fans".

Here's an example of a conversation I once had; "so if you're watching "your" team in the Super Bowl and the opposing team makes a play which results in them winning, you'd be upset and disappointed. But what if that winning play happened to be "the best play in the history of the sport" and you were fortunate enough to witness it. Still upset, you just witnessed something that will be talked about for eons. And the guy I had this conversation with said "damn right I'd still be pissed" only proving he's not a fan of the sport, but only a team fan.

If you ask my hubby who does he want to win, boxing is the only sport he watches, he will tell you he doesn't care who wins. He roots for the clean effective punches being thrown. He has favorite boxers to watch because they are the best around, but if an opponent beats one of his favorites to watch it just means he has another favorite to add to his list. He'll be the first to tell you he's a fan of Boxing!

Back to Idol, unbelievable just how many gifted kids are out there, and Idol gives them a once in a lifetime chance. But only a few have all the bases covered, it takes a lot more than a great voice. I've seen a few who are just like 15/16 and have an incredible stage presence!

That's just it too. By this point the judges even said the kids getting cut have real talent. That's what makes those cuts so hard. How do you decide between this really talented person and that really talented person except to find the minute details, the little tiny extra that makes the difference in that one performance on that day. Like I think one guy got cut because he looked down most of the time. They said he needed to perform, not just sing well.

And I agreed with the judges decision to make that cut, he was definitely talented, but you're not going to appeal to an audience if you're not connecting with them.
