I think this may need it's own discussion thread, perhaps in the tuning section as to not take away from the LFX Vararam discussion...

I wonder what would happen if you enabled the TUTD (will it even let you?) What are the other options for pattern b?

But my experience with Vararam has been first rate. Heck they even sent me a few new couplers for free after I told them I hacked up my original one on purpose (experimenting on something). They have also replaced parts on the earlier units for some customers for free. They have my respect.

Sucks they can't give us more info on this though. Guessing they just aren't thinking about this thread.

Yeah I gotcha. I'm not saying they are a bad company or anything, and it's good that they helped you out by doing that, BUT they shouldn't be telling their customers that their product will be released at a certain time and then not release it and leave their "future" customers without any info

They seem to come in here every year or so, tease us on the release "real soon now" and then disappear without a trace. I am really tired of it. I just bought a used CAI from a member on C5.

I'll pass on Scamaram for LFX. I waited over 2 years for more hot air from them.

Had a chance to play with the LLT to LFX Vararam project for a while today. Tore everything apart, some some measurements, etc... As I figured, the Vararam would have to be clearanced for the radiator cap... About 20 minutes with a heat gun and a soda can took care of that...

I'm sure it's probably not the best thing to do in terms of air flow, but it had to be done. From the looks of it I'll need to raise the intake manifold about 1" (no problem, LFX extendolator), I MAY have to flip the throttle body upside down, cut a hole in the heat shield rubber, and I may have to make some new upper radiator mount brackets. Still need to attach the LFX MAF mount block, but couldn't find my box of them... I'll have to dig around for them. With any luck, no more problems, and some decent weather, I can probably get this running on the car next weekend.

Very cool.

I assume the air "scoop" deflector that goes in front of the radiator installs the same?

Also, a good indicator of clearance once you have it all done and installed is to be able to just barely fit the key fob in:

When I first had mine installed it kept shifting a bit after I ran the car, closing up the air gap. I ended up shaving down the stock plastic mounts which hold the radiator more than I had at first (which was required for installation) and once I had enough clearance there it never moved again.

It looks to install the same... I've noticed that this v6 vararam doesn't lean the radiator back near as much as the v8 vararam does...

Thanks for the pics!

Still waiting

Guys I spoke with Vararam 2-10-14. The guy claimed the V8 version MIGHT be ready by March and the V6 will be months after that. Kinda gave me the impression it might be late I. The year before the V6 is ready. Real let down.

Design

Also according to what the guy told me the new ones are going to be routed more like the other CAI's on the market. Not over the radiator anymore.

Sounds a lot like what they apparently said 1.5+ yrs ago... I'm just not sure whether the delays are due to technical complications or business decisions. There is also some evidence floating around that the 2012+ V8 design is of the "cone and tube" variety. Not sure if that has been debunked or not. The V6 could be similar... So basically, who knows what's going to be released and when. I suppose you are referring to the 6th Gen Camaro in your last sentence. Not so sure that's quite there yet either...

EDIT: You beat me to the comment regarding the OTR design question...which then begs the question: Why would they be nearly two years behind the other players ???
