Interesting. When I ran the bluecat tool, it changed RPM or MAP boundaries or both. I have some sample tunes that I have collected. I need to do some comparing it sounds like. Either that, or give up on the 3rd party stuff and flash the custom OS in. This EQ<>VE method has been really weird from the start.

Great thread. I usually never touch the MAF in tuning since it is "Factory" calibrated, but I never considered the reversion aspect of cam tuning. Great info.

Trims are a disagreement between what your MAF or VE says should work and what is actually happening. How do you get your trims where they're supposed to be without tuning the MAF?

As soon as you move the MAF to an aftermarket Air intake system the calibration goes out the window for most. ADM CAI Halltech Rotofab All Keep the calibration closest to stock but still needs some tuning and More so when you add a cam or supercharger. Others are Pretty far off. Ted.

Like thahemp said, this type of discussion is great stuff for those of us that don't have tons of experience, and I hope it continues as well. Also, thanks to those tuners/vendors that jump in here to help us out with this stuff, your time and help is really appreciated.

Interesting. There must be a difference in our OS? I did it the way you're about to. Drove and drove and drove till my stft cells were 0 or close to it, then applied ltft error %. Then I did stft with learning disabled. That went much faster. It took a couple tries to get rid of stumbles, but I eventually got there. Now I run it in hybrid mode and it drives better than it ever has. The quality of the logging is what keeps you from swinging back and forth past perfect if you know what I mean.

so i ran the bluetorps how to a couple times now and keep getting stuck after adjusting for LTFT's. the issue i get is that i can't hold an idle. i've bumped the idle RPM's up to 1200 and it'll hold there for 30-45 secs then dip down to 400RPM's, generally it'll recover but other times it just dies. i can bump the RPM's down to 1100 where it will continue this, anything lower and it hunts and dies. so…i haven't made it to STFT tuning yet.
so…cleared out the VE Reversion Lo Altd table to see if it that would help…same thing. so now what? not sure which of the 20 VE tables to adjust. the bluecat tool made some MAJOR adjustments between the original file and the bluecat corrections. which to me seems could be part of the issue. on a second note, no matter how much logging, my STFT's won't 0 out with fuel trim learning enabled or LTFT's enabled (which were disabled). STFT's range from -15 - +15 but LTFT's are between -6 to -2 across the board with the majority of the cells settling at -5. so it appears as though my LTFT's are settling in, but STFT's won't. from my understanding, once LTFT's are learned, STFT corrections should be minimal? i understand -4 is acceptable/preferred, but any suggestions to finish LTFT tuning with this process where my idle won't hunt? i know its gotta be in the VE table…but where? or should i go straight to STFT tuning? thanks

Make sure you're looking at the STFT cells as average when you're waiting on them to zero out. I used last value for LTFT and average value for STFT. I don't know how much driving you have done, but I burned through an entire tank doing the LTFT stuff. 3 LONG logging sessions. I assume your VE low altd table rows and columns match the EQ<>VE tools rows and columns? You might want to check that too. Have you done your MAF calibration yet? Do you have the same problems when you disable the VE stuff? Mine drove a lot smoother untuned in MAF only. The VE tables can definitely make the car run shitty if it's not right.

Why are you idling so high? That cam shouldn't be that bad.
