I remember when my next door neighbor got his Mini...top of the line that year. Man, he couldn't stop talking about how quick and planted it was. Wanted to race me in my truck...which probably would've beat him! Fast forward to the day I brought my SS home...first stop, next door. Hey Lou, want to race now??? If a human could look like a dog with its tail between its legs whimpering away, that's what he looked like!

If you'd lose to a Mini, trade in your car for a minivan and turn in your man card.

Based on this web site:
http://www.zeroto60times.com Mini Cooper S 0-60 mph 6.1 Quarter mile 15.0 Chevrolet Camaro (V8) 0-60 mph 4.7 Quarter mile 13.1 Really not even close.... Even the Camaro V6 is faster in the quarter mile. I'm sure the copper is a corner monster though.... 2010 Chevrolet Camaro (V6) 0-60 mph 6.0 Quarter mile 14.3

Good race and close for the first 3-5 feet but then it'll be all over but the crying. On a tight Autocross track maybe a bit different but of open road, just smoke and crying.

An excellent driver in a Mini on a twisty course could school a SS driven by someone not well versed throwing a 4000# vehicle around (no matter how well it handles).
I will always quickly agree 100% with someone who thinks they are "faster" than me. It really upsets them!! I figure 99% of the time it just becomes a battle of "stupid" on the road and I got nothing to prove that's worth bending something.

Obviously if you go to a horsepower track, things will change completely. Anytime something with a lot of horsepower gets a chance to stretch it's legs, it's usually game over for the smaller vehicle. Case in point, my friend used to auto-cross his WRX all the time. At the course he used to go to, it was only a 1.1 mile course. He could actually lay down times quicker than 600cc bikes, and faster than the 1000's because of their taller gearing. However, you put him and me on a 2.25 mile track and I'd easily put him 15 seconds down. On a road course, 15 seconds is an eternity, hell even 2 or 3 seconds is a lot of ground to recover. My advice is, I think you should race both on a small and big track. It will show the capabilities of both cars.

yeah, my BIL is nuts.. and really knows nothing about cars. His "that's not too much different" on the 18 sec vs. 13 sec 1/4 mile really made me laugh..
haha I will definitely invite him to an autocross and have some fun!

this just reminds me of the tiny little dogs do the most barking.
I did once race a toyata MR2 in at 1979 firebird, was close untill the 1st stright. after that it was all over for the little MR2 and 1979 firebird did not handle well at all. he did have me the 1st couple curves though |
