If I remember correctly, he had the 155 limit removed from his chip during a tune. He then found out there is a second limiter programmed in another location which is why he only got to 161.

Yeah, who cares about not dying in a fiery crash? I sure don't! Why, if I don't die in a fiery crash, I might survive to enjoy other things in life...we can't have that!

A lady from work called me last night and asked if her 2LT would go 160 since thats what the speedo said, I told her i believe the max speed to be 155 as that what the limit was on the 08 CTS with the same motor. She tried it this morning and hit 130 but then had to slow for traffic. She said the car still had more in it and no messages about max speed or fuel system cut off. I believe the V6 to be capable of 155.

1LT with 19"s and hit 135 before I thought it was a good idea to let off. I still had plenty of pedal left so I am sure 155 would be no problem at all, I'm just not sure I want to try it yet. It was very a smooth ride at that speed, I keep getting the urge to go for more, but I keep fighting it, but what a thrill at the time. I have 5800 mile on it now, I just love driving this car!

It shifted into 6th gear when you lifted up on the gas (just like it always does when your cruising)? Because it definately wouldn't shift into 6th gear while running wide open.

Around 110-115mph the automatic should be shifting from 3rd into 4th gear. The next shift (into 5th gear) won't come until close to 150mph.

Maximum speeds in the auto(manual) LS/LT
1- 43(39)
2- 75(69)
3- 115(109)
4- 153(149)
5- 210(178)
6- 265(237)

i need to find a longer stretch of flat road to get her up that high, 130 is the highest i've gotten her so far. If I could get a spotter at the top of this hill to let me know its clear I think I could do it, hammering it before I go over the hill...

Don't call someone a liar unless you have the balls to hold the pedal down yourself.

First off, Take the slide rule out of your pocket and "Hello, welcome to the real world". When I stated that my car shifted into 6th at 125 that's what it did. Second, it is easy to "Bench race" and tell me what my car should do and when it should shift according to what RPM it is at. Then the laws of physics and aerodynamics kick in. Since my last post I have had the opportunity to run on a private, ex military airstrip with fire suit and helmet. My V-6 camaro will punch through the gov and hit 161 before backing off. Hitting the limiter is very unsettling. It causes the car to shutter, which is very unpleasant at that speed. It runs up to 135 with very little effort, but after that the climb to 160 slows down quite a bit. At a certain point, the size of the hole that we are punching in the air and the aerodynamic drag takes over.

The only other thing that upsets me as much as being called a liar is that on this forum, when you Type in "CAMARO" it comes up as a misspelled word!!!!!!

Well, not sure why but Chevy recomends that you do not take the vehicle over 4000rpms and not to drive over 100mph until you have reach 1500 miles, but once I hit that mark i will be testing it. Only about 500 miles to go.
