Now this isn't a hood but carbon fiber parts are pretty strong and lighter.

I love the look..

I have a carbon hood due to hail damage. I got slammed by golf ball sized hail and the whole car looked pretty good outside of the hood. The aluminum hood dents EXTREMELY easily. My thought process was that a carbon hood won't dent, aluminum will. My hood looked three times worse than the whole car did. Aluminum may be lighter, but it certainly is NOT stronger than a steel or composite hood.

Is this by the same company that made G5.R's steering wheel?

It is stronger and lighter, but when it breaks a lot more expensive to fix if you can fix it or have to replace with new. Most exotic cars run it every where they can for the weight savings and rigidity. Even the new C7 vette has CF hood and roof panel. They are using it more in roofs and hoods and trunks because even the small savings way up high in the car can make a big difference on its center of gravity and improve its cornering ability with less weight transfer.

Love the steering wheel ! Carbon fiber is functional and looks great when used in moderation (tasteful). Guess the Lamborghini Aventador and Elemento are pure rice ...
