Finally getting it done. 2LS 3.91 rear end swap.
I'm dropping my 2LS A6 off at Lucky's Speed and Performance tomorrow for a rear end swap. I paid for all the parts back in October but had trouble lining up schedules with the shop. Coming from a 2.92 gear ratio I can only imagine how insane this is going to feel. The thought alone is almost saliva inducing. From what some of the other V6 guys have said after their swap this is going to be a blast.
There has been some concern on here about drive shaft compatibility, so I've asked the shop to take pictures of their work for this thread. Can't wait to get this done! Update: 2/12- email from the shop. Stock drive shaft works. SS shaft not needed. "Scott, Everything is installed and back together. We did receive the wrong axle nuts and will be waiting for the correct ones. I ordered them today and had them overnighted. They will ship out tomorrow for Friday delivery. Everything went together seemlessly and smoothly just as we had planned. The driveshaft bolted up correctly and was the proper length. Once we get the new axle nuts then we can check fluid levels and road test. We will keep you updated. In the meantime here are the photos. Please let us know if you need different angles or shots. Hope this helps." Last edited by 6bangerBOOM; 02-12-2014 at 09:24 PM. |

Congrats on the new rear differential. Bet it will be a blast with the 3:91 gears.

This is the way to go. I got mine used, and saved a lot of green.

Got it back yesterday and MAN! It feels so light on it's feet now. I haven't gone WOT yet (only gonna do that once or twice during break in and that'll be towards the end), but I can tell even at lower RPMs that this is gonna be a blast. Perma-grin reactivated.

Yes do the break-in correctly, it will be better in the long run. Change out the fluid right after the break-in also. Than go stand on it!!! I love the gears, and the car just reacts so smooth without even to go to WOT. I can't wait for good weather soI can see how it reacts to nitrous with the gears.
