TIRES

As I understand it , the 1Le comes with run flat tires and pulls 1G . Wouldn't it handle better with out run flats ? I had a 2006 C6 that I changed the run flats out on to Nitto Invo's and it rode smoother, handled better and hooked up better . And at a cheaper price then the run flat Goodyears. . To hell with run flats ,we all have cell phones if we get a flat.

They are definitely not runflats.

I put on the Michelin Pilot Supersports and can't wait for the weather to be stable enough for me to put my Goodyear F1 Supersports back on! They handle SOOOOOO much better than these Michelins. Best thing I can say for them is they don't crack in the cold like the Goodyears...........

I've heard good things about them, but I don't see how a harder tire will handle better than a softer tire in the heat.

It's not even day/night comparison. I've never been a Goodyear fan but those F1's are the cat's meow. I did a track day at Driveway Austin while the weather was still fairly warm/hot and then changed over to the Michelins the next day, then went back. The sidewall on the Michelins just doesn't have the strength of the Goodyear. Even the instructors out there noticed the difference and commented on it. Simple point, I never really came close to spinning out on the Goodyears and then spun it on the Michelins. We could hear and feel the sidewalls on the Michelins buckling around the corners were as no such nausea was felt/heard with the Goodyears. Same size tire. Nothing on the car was changed. The Michelins are a nicer riding tire by a little. They also are a 35k mile tire were as the Goodyear has no mileage warranty on it at all. IF, you aren't going to do ANY track time and it's only going to be a daily driver, then the Michelin is just fine. But, I would never say it's a better tire than the Goodyear performance wise in ANY regard. My 2 cents.

Really, the only thing I don't like about the F1's is they pick up everything and throw it at the paint. Gotta take the good with the bad.

That means they're working!

I'm pulling my Goodyears off tomorrow. They are destroying my paint behind the doors, even with mudflaps, and the lack of traction in cool/wet weather is no good.

That being said, I do not track my car at all. It's just a cruiser/weekend play thing/road trip machine. I'm sure the Goodyears would be outstanding if my car was purely a beautiful, hot weather, no trash on the roads, track car.

Michelin Pilot AS3's going on after work tomorrow.

I thought the stock Goodyears worked fantastic on the road courses. Really surprised me. That said, I thought I'd try something new so I bought BFGoodrich g-Force Rivals to give them a whirl. I primarily run R-compounds at the track, but do some sessions with street tires on occasion. Heard great things about the Michelin Pilot Super Sports as well. Some have had good luck with them at the track and autocross on C5 Camaros.

Hey Orange Crush, how did you like the Rivals vs. Goodyears?

3 full track days and ~3000 street miles and my Michelin Pilot Supersports were corded on my BMW. Cold traction is better, sidewall roll too much for me, maybe spreading them out on the 1LE rims would help that,

I like the Michelin PSS better than the Goodyears for the street & track/autocross. I consider them the best tire wet or dry....so to each his own....
