I should be happy to own two Camaros...

I was with my Father when he bought his 94 Z28 and have enjoyed driving it from time to time over the years.
He has always enjoyed owning sport cars and is an exceptional driver. He is getting on in years and has had to take a vision test every year to keep his license.
This time he did not pass.
The time has come for him to hang up the keys.
I know that's not easy for him to do.
He told me he will no longer need the car so I should take it.
I should be happy to own two Camaros now but it just makes me sad.
I should sell it but can't stand the thought. I think I'll keep it at his house and work on it there for now.

It is definately a keeper.

I have my Dad's Truck now for a similar reason. Make sure he really won't drive it if you keep it there. Keep him safe. We had to not only take my grandfather's keys but even remove the distributor cap from the tractor. Then he would walk too far from home. My aunt picked him up & brought him home one day & when they arrived he said "Thanks for the ride, but I'm just going to have to walk back". Feisty 'ol fart wasn't he?

It is a sad time. A passage all of us lucky enough to have our parents long enough, have to travel through. Glad you still have him & you both still have that great Camaro. Cherish them both.

BTW, post up some pics!

My Mother passed away in 94, he went and got this car after that.
The old girl only has around 67,000 mi. on her.

my dad can't drive now either, yep it is sad. I always remember him driving his 70 442 in his younger days. I know it hurts him but it is something we all have to come to grips with. I don't know how I will be when it's my turn :(

OP, I don't know how your dad really feels about it, but take him for a ride in both Camaros. I'm sure you are already doing it.

But I think I'd have to keep the car. My dad never had a sports car, but I think his old Cadillac might be out there somewhere, if I ever find it I'm buying it.

I helped my Dad track down a car similar to the one he had way long ago this past summer. I know he doesn't have a lot longer to drive but when he does he is grinning from ear to ear. He is always talking about how I'm getting his car once he's done because I helped him get it, yada, yada, yadda. Point is I will never get rid of that car because it will always remind me of him and will be my connection long after he is gone. It may sit for a long while but there will come a day when I (and you) will get an awful lot of please cruising down memory lane in those cars.

Keep it and store it until you are ready. BTW, I helped him find a '70 GTO Ram Air 4 convertable that looks brand new still. There are some beautiful cars out there still.
