A typical performance tuning shop is not going to give you a warranty on your powertrain after they tune your car for headers. They may stand behind their tune, but don't expect it to be like a warranty from GM.

My car is tuned by Jannetty Racing. If my supercharger fails (for any reason) and GM pulls my ECM and sees my tune, I am pretty sure Ted isn't going to warranty that, nor are most other tuner shops.
Good point. I used the term"tuner" too loosely. I agree with your description of who will and who won't provide a warranty. When I priced out the cost for me to buy and have someone local install everything Nickey included in their stage II package, I couldn't do it for much less. I think they get the cars through a fleet manager so the base price is already heavily discounted making the overall price much more attractive.

With everything included, there can be some sticker shock. But add the peace of mind that the mods were done to provide safe and reliable improved performance goes a long ways. Also it does help with resale value.

I'm not so sure it will help with resale value. In other news I'll be installing a long list of parts in including the PFADT headers this weekend. I already have a stock exhaust clip and a Stock Exhaust with 100% NoWeeds diverters open clip. I plan to go ahead and get the other two clips done as well so you guys can hear all four configurations.

I have the Pfadt headers on mine and look forward to the sound clip.

Man it sucks to have to tune my Z just for headers. I guess I will just stick to just the Roto Fab intake :(

Had cutouts on stock pipe, it sounded loud at the time I thought, Bolted on my headers and catless pipe and now I understand the difference it is night and day louder and better tone all together.

It actually makes the Cutouts on stock headers sound crappy lol.

So, I installed my Stainless Power headers this weekend and the install into the Noweeds system was a breeze. Unfortunately, I think I cracked a spark plug during the install since I now have a misfire in cylinder 5 and the car backfires under acceleration. My plug wires are all new, and are nice and tight, so that is why I am leaning towards the plug being cracked. If the new plug I picked up at lunch doesn't fix the misfire, then I'll be swapping out wires again. The car does sound great though!

I would think you should be ok with just installing Pfadt headers, and catts without a tune, although your not going to pick up as much, Those headers IMOP are the best because they help keep the low end torque that LT's normally loose as the power moves up in the RPM band. I wish i had gotten those installed on my car....INfact i remember seeing a thread that they did and installed their headers without a tune,,,If you think about it,your not changing any A/F ratio's a CAI would need a tune and effect the tune more than headers installed with Catts.. enjoy it..

How do you know you have a misfire? I have the Stainless Power system as well and I get a tone of "Decel Pop" I love it!

Mine was definitely not decel pop. I knew I had a misfire because the car was backfiring badly and surging on acceleration. The service stabilitrack warning came on as well while on my test drive. I hooked it up to my scanner and pulled the codes and it showed a misfire on cylinder 5. I pulled the plug tonight and it was cracked in several places. Replaced it and went for a drive and all is well. It pulls like a freight train and sounds like a beast!

I got the car all done today, it was a long weekend project, Solid Subframe Bushings, lowering springs, Trailing Arms, Tie Rods, PFADT LT Headers, Bosch Iridium Spark Plugs, Big Gulp and the WW relocation kit. So sorry about not having a clip yet but I just got to start it back up a few hours ago and... wait for it... It Sounds Amazing!

When I started it it set off a car alarm on the other side of another car lol. I'll get you guys all the clips tomorrow plus I still have to datalog for Ted and get a modified tune.

One thing i always notice is with a blown heaveir car is the torque always seems to go away with LT's (not 4-2-1 just 4-1headers)and the car feels slower on the low end at low speeds until it gets passed a certain rpm band..its because the headers allowed the power band to move up in rpm a little bit..It was really noticeably on my SRT-10 as i had a blower installed and then headers last..it felt like i lost 50 rwhp until it picked up speed and i got used to it....I went and dyno it again because at first i thought something was wrong...It's why 4-2-1 make more low end torque...while the same HP..
Hi there can you explain the difference between 4-2-1 and 4-1, I thought they were all four to one collector? I have heard of stepped but not a 4-2-1 or 4-1

Thanks
