Pirelli RS tires in snow???

I'm picking up a new 2 SS, however there is some snow on the a few of the road that I will be taking in my 2 hour drive home from the dealership. Most of the highway driving should be clear, but I may hit some packed snow on a few side streets and my in driveway. Will I be able to get this car home, and safe in my garage?

I would not have driven anywhere in the winter with those tires, they are summer only tires, but others have done it and been fine, and some have done it and ended up regretting it.

Any hills? It can be done though. Your driving experience will be tested on those roads and if you get stuck. Bring a buddy so they can follow you in another car and bring a shovel.

I vote no! No and no! Don't force to use it on snow they get hard on low temps you'll pretty much be running slicks I mean hard slicks. So before you wreck your car store it or run winter tires.

No.

As others are telling you, the Pirelli's suck in cold, and are dangerous in the snow.

I tried in 1/2 inch and it made me turn right around and park it. Not worth the risk.

I was so happy to get rid of mine last month.

I would postpone picking it up, even though I am sure you want it badly.

Just think, even if you don't slide off the road or have an accident, how will you feel maybe slamming those new wheels into a curb?

Good luck.

Jim

My P-Zeros works fine in the snow. Just finishing up my third Winter on my second set, yes I replaced the stock P-Zeros with P-Zeros. I had my car up to 102 this morning, it was 8 degrees F. The myth that the stock tires turn into hard plastic is just that. The traction control on my Camaro is really great, I have driven through 6 inches of snow without problem, sure you have to watch your speed, like every other car on the road. I say Go For it, Drive that Car!!

Thanks for the insight guys. Another day of sun cleared up most of the roads and I've got a clear weather window to go pick it up before more snow is forecasted. I can't resist! I will take it easy and call off the trip if the snow does start falling.

Myth???

You must be smoking something.

Sorry, but you must not be rolling on Pirelli P-Zero's. Last month, 4 degrees out, and my tires felt like eggs, not flat spotted, but felt oval shaped.

I am sure there are a TON of people that will disagree with you.

Wait, I got it, you have a set of STUDDED Pirelli's.

I wish you luck driving in 6 inches of snow.

My experience has been that driving in snow on P-Zeros puts you into one of two states...

1) Terrified
2) Stuck

YMMV after getting mine stuck in just a snowy driveway and taking 5 men to get it out I'll always keep it parked when there is any doubt.

Even without snow, temps under 30 degrees make these PZero tires rock hard. Dry pavement feels slick as ice, makes for extremely unenjoyable driving.

Dont know if serious or trolling... dont trust this guy I know by experience I parked my car on the road cant even at least get it to the driveway when it snowed for the first time during it's first winter.
