Back in saddle again!
I went in to the dealership looking for a C7 Stingray and left with a ZL1 lol. I have not owned a Camaro since my last Z28 way back in 2002. I'm really happy with this car so far. It's not very fast (IMO) but it handles great! Can't wait to start modding!

Same choice I would have made, but I'm curious why you chose the ZL1?

To be 100% honest, I had no intention of buying a ZL1. I went in looking for a Stingray or 09 and up ZR1. The dealership had a Black on black Vert. and it was too late to order the trim I wanted. I test drove a 2014 black ZL1 M6 and was really impressed. so much infact that I pulled the trigger on a 2014 RR ZL1 that was sitting in the showroom.

I hear ya. I wanted either a 1LT/2LT w/Z51 and Mag. ride in red. My dealer showed me what was "out there" and not one car on the list was what I was looking for. If I was going to pay that kind of money, I wasn't going to settle for something I didn't exactly I want. I can wait. The C7 is only going to get better. Hell, I'm loving this car as of now lol.

Dude, we are in quite a similar situation, except I changed my mind from the C7 to the ZL1 without the test drive! The C7 is an awesome car, no doubt, but I don't want to do anything past bolt ons with my next car. The C7 won't get much faster than stock without a supercharger, cam or nitrous and I just don't want to do those things this time around after my last experience. The ZL1, according to members here, has much more untapped potential with bolts ons.
So basically, stock on stock, a C7 will slightly edge out the ZL1. A C7 with long tubes, CAI and tune vs a ZL1 with intake, headers and tune, the ZL1 should have the edge. But add pulleys to the ZL1, and it's all over for the bolt on C7. In a straight line, at least

I had all the order forms for my stingray filled out and was told the dealer could not submit the order until they got a build allocation.... I waited and waited and then I saw my ZL1. The way my C7 was spec'd it was going to be over $70K. I bought the ZL1 in June and put the price difference in Mods. I have never regretted it for a moment. No matter what those hardcore vette guys say, I still don't think any stock C7 can run with my ZL1 at hardly any racing venue.

I was told the same thing as far as the allocatons. What I think is dumb is you can go on the the chevy website and order one yet, if the dealership doesn't have any allocations, you're screwed. that's silly to me but oh well. I'm very happy with my ZL1 for now. It's a shame it's so darn heavy though. However, it doesn't feel as heavy as it is. It could use another 100 hp but that's what mods are for lol.
