Forgive the threadjacking.
He is an ET....no, not that E.T.
I did not see his paperwork; they do raise limits/ceilings every once in a while, like maybe during a war... when they are sending Navy Electronics Technicians to Iraq to patrol/guard etc... maybe ATCs are not the topdog anymore--- maybe its the Z28s now... oh, different topdog.

My bet is they raised the ceiling and did not tell the controllers ...kiddin

I was thinking about setting up a savings account (only have a regular student bank acc at the moment, not a student anymore though) and put like $400 every month in there right away.

Ideas are appreciated
If you can afford it; start making the payments now (to your savings) do NOT forget to pay yourself the auto insurance amount as well.... you should start a maintenance fund as well, for future tire purchases etc.... I hear the V6 will like to eat tires...

Yeah, same goes for the NY Department of Corrections, Got my twenty year raise a couple months back so I'm putting a little over twelve hundred a month in the bank for the Camaro. All I really want is the V-8, their top or close to top sound system and that's pretty much it.

Working for the New Jersey Department of Corrections has it's perks. LOL

I wasn't trying to brag about ATC, btw. Hope it didn't come off that way.

Apologize for more thread jacking, but I do agree the Navy should get higher bonuses than us AF since they do deploy a lot more, I know my father was gone about 3/4 of the year every time he went out, which was almost every year for the past few. And even though I'm in the AF I don't get to enjoy all the luxuries you ATC guys do....My job can only take me three places, and unfortunately they are both Army posts or the beautiful beachless sands of the desert. Our linguist bonus does cap out around 60k, but from my experience so far, its definitely not worth it (wish I picked a different AFSC now), even though that is potentially two decently equipped Camaros. Back to the main topic though, hopefully I will be able to put down at least 3-4k as soon as my Jeep is paid off and a little while after the new kid arrives. I'm sure I can squeeze two car seats in the back somehow. Or just let my wife follow me in the Jeep with the kids...

My goal is $2-3k, perhaps even $5k. I'm a father of three kids and an E5 in the Navy. I already have a $1k CD growing (compound interest), and will purchase another CD during my next deployment. I also bought a $1k savings bond, ($500 actual paid) but it won't mature fully until 2013. I can cash it in early, which I'll most likely do, so I'm hoping to get at least $800 out of it come 2010 (or 2011). Figure I can save up a few bucks here and there, I just might have $3k to put down.

So what does everyone think the HiPo version will run? LSA/or supercharged LS3, fully loaded, pretty well every option except under-coating?
Former E-4 in the Navy and I just got into the Army and Im a E-4. I have a little over 7k right now. Ill have 10k to put down on one when they come out with a few thousand for wheels and a complete exhaust right after I buy the car

Here's some usseful information for everyone on this site...

Every $5,000 you finance will run about $100-$120 a month depending on your credit...ie. you are $35,000 out the door, your payment will be around $700.

For all you military folk out there, GM offers additional rebates on ALMOST ALL new vehicles for any active personnel.

Unless you're planning on modding your camaro, lease it. Then if you want to buy it at the end, go ahead. If not, get a new one. The beauty of leasing is that you can put less money down (inceptions typically run about $1,500), have a lower monthly payment (ie a $25,000 2008 Malibu woiuld run about $500 a month if you bought it, or about $365 a month if you leased it), and you can basically afford more car.

GM will not have any incentivised rates on this vehicle, so check with your bank. GMAC is typically one of the higher banks for standard interest rates. If you have a credit union, you will do even better.

Take it from an honest salesman (believe it or not, we do exist...)

Yes I was thinking about leasing as well, if it wasn't for the miles restriction... in one month I might only drive 500 miles, but in the next one 1500. I will have to figure it out once pricing is available...

offtopic: you're in WPB? good to know, i'll keep that in mind

jsenn,

Do you pay interest when you lease a car? Also, when the lease term is up and the dealer says, "Ok. Time to pay it off...." Balloon payment, basically, can I go to my bank and get a loan for the remainder? What about that whole interest part.

Sorry, but this leasing deal doesn't sound like a bad idea. I just don't like the idea that I don't get any equity when leasing.

I've never leased, but from what I've read and heard from people who do, when the lease term expires you either give it back and walk away, trade it for a new one, or get financing/pay cash to buy it.You still are paying interest. I've never considered leasing because up until about a year ago I was putting 25K or more per year on a vehicle. I would be over the mileage restriction the first 3 months. Last vehicle I bought was an 03 and it now has 145K on it. Leasing didn't make sense. It would be sweet if you could get a 1 year lease to get one of the first Camaros, drive it until the next model year Camaros are available with the Gen V motor, then swap it out. But most of the lease terms I've seen are 2 year minimum.
