The 1LE Needs the New Flowtie

I already removed my SS logo, but I am so buying this as soon as I can find it for my track days!

pasted from the above USA Article - please click USA TODAY link to see a photo of the FlowTie

Chevrolet replaces 'bowtie' with 'flowtie' in Z28
Quote:
When it comes to making cars faster on the raceway, it is amazing to see the level of detail that goes into squeezing out an extra fraction of a second. In the case of Chevrolet's 2014 Camaro Z/28, even the little logo on the grille can make a difference.

Like every Chevrolet, the Camaro carries the little Chevy logo on its front, what's known within the company as the "bowtie" because of its shape.

During aerodynamics testing, engineer Richard Quinn noticed that the bowtie on the Z/28's grille was blocking air away from the radiator. Not a lot, but enough that it could potentially make a difference when it comes to engine cooling.

So rather than banishing the logo, he cut out all of its golden innards. That left only the silver outline of the logo.

"There are engineers in our team that race as a hobby," said Quinn, "and we used that racer's mindset to look for ways small or large to get better performance out of the Z/28."

The new grille badge is called a "Flowtie," named for how air wraps around it.

Instead of buying a "flowtie" I wonder if I can just cut the innards out of mine?

Search it has been done. I went billet recently and almost wish I had seen this first. Might mess around and mod the one sitting in my garage. See how it comes out.

When I get a 14 or 15 1LE, this along with a Z/28 grill will be my first mod.

I like the no tie also, but agree, makes the car look naked, I think the Flowtie is perfect.

Im not sure if the flowtie would be effective on 2013's. Since the stock grill crosses behind the bowtie.

I thought about that but if one has a heritage grille they would benefit from the mod.
