That's the one! I'm going to try to get a few from the Chicago group to come down for it.

O.K., we will not be able to go to C5Fest in Texas this year, so we decided to go to BBOMG July 18-20, 2014 in Oshawa, Ontario. This will be the last year for Camaro manufacturing at the Oshawa plant with the 6th Gen being built in Michigan. Is anyone else from Central Illinois going???

BBOMG is something to consider especially since it will be the last opportunity for Canada. Here's a link for more information: http://www.bbomg.com/ I was also considering attending the Michigan Camaro event July 4th-6th. More information here: http://www.camarosuperfest.com/Home.html

I am working on changing jobs at the moment, and if that goes through, I doubt I'll be asking to take vacation just two months in. Was also thinking about BBOMG, the Michigan event as well as Woodward as alternatives, but I think any of those would have to be last minute decisions if they happen to fall within a break in the schedule and if I happened to be stationed at the time somewhere close by.

haha, indeed. this new position is a totally new field, but I don't wanna jinx anything so i'll tell you more about it when it's official. it will still involve travel, but not as much as my current job, which seems to be neverending.

Central Illinois Camaro Club Idea
I have been thinking more about starting a Central Illinois Camaro Club. I think someone mentioned this to me last year, but I never did anything with it. At the time, I was taking care of my Dad and couldn't commit to putting something together. The only Camaro Clubs I'm aware of in Illinois is the "Illinois Camaro Club" and the "Chicago 5th Gen Club", both are based out of Chicago. I'm not aware of any Camaro related club in the central part of the state. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.
My initial thought is not to limit it to 5th Gens, but that it would be open to all Generation Camaro's. My first task would be to get a Social Network Group setup (thinking Facebook) and see where it goes from there. The Facebook Group would be a good place to let everyone know of events we are aware of and can attend as a group, and talk about all things Camaro. If we get enough interest from Facebook, we can see about an actual website for the club. I would like to get this going soon since spring is upon us. I should have started this earlier in the year....my bad. This is not something I would like to do alone, and need others support. I also would like to get some input from you. Questions for you: 1. Would this club be something you would value and participate in or do you think we have enough places to get information from or groups to join? 2. Do you use Facebook or any other social media regularly, and would you participate in that means of communication? 3. Is Facebook your social media of choice and how often do you monitor/check Facebook? (Everyday, Weekly, Monthly) 4. Are you okay with this being a club for all generation Camaros or would you prefer it staying 5th and 6th Gen? 5. Any suggestions/ideas/comments or experiences you have and want to share? Feel free to PM me if you prefer to keep your answers anonymous. Thanks for your input!

1. Always been in a car club or "team." I have always been one to attend shows or meets.
2. I use facebook....too much Other places like twitter and instagram I don't understand the point. 3. See above 4. I'm indifferent on this one. Its kinda cool to be in a group with all Gen 5s, but don't have a problem being around other gens (hell for other cars for that matter) 5. Just keep it free. Never been to keen on these clubs that have "memberships." If you want a shirt or a decal, cool buy one on your own. I don't feel it is necessary to charge a annual renewal fee to be in a club.

Thanks guys, keep em coming. I didn't think about opening it to other makes, that's a good point and a possibility. I have a buddy at work that owns a Challenger.

I'm game. Yes to 1-3. 4-with there not being that much out there it might not be bad to leave it open. Just my 2 cents. There are only 3 5th gens in my area, 13 2ssrs, and 2 zl1's
