does the brace just unbolt and then you can remove it and replace it or is there anything you have to worry about falling off or anything

It just unbolts. There is noting else connected to it. It can be driven without it on.

Good to know. Any reason why an SS would be different? Any SS guys used 40mm?

Anyone have custom covers for the top of the shock mounts? Billet Alum covers maybe.

I had to modify the front set of washers using the poorman's lathe (drill press and files), then polished them all with Tripoli(?) buffing compound.
After looking at all the different options of others replacing these factory bolts, I've decided to go a similar method to Ricamaro did with the countersunk washers and bolts.

I ordered stainless steel M8x35 flat head bolts (McMaster 93395A412) and stainless M8 countersunk washers (eBay #171066351259). This way I would not have to modify the washers like Ricamaro had to. I do plan on belt sanding the face of the bolts to remove any letters/numbers and polishing the heads and washers to a mirror finish on a buffing wheel.

I generally don't like chrome (or shiny) parts on the car...but since I'm getting the strut brace refinished now, those ugly factory OEM bolts have got to go!

You don't need nuts for the bolts do you? With the threaded holts you just torque the bolt down?

No nuts required. Just screw the bolt into the threaded hole and you are good to go!

"SS" referenced earlier (post 53, 54?) is for "Stainless Steel"

Right, I was questioning if 40mm length would work on my SS (I know I'm posting in a ZL1 forum). I don't think their strut towers are different?

Got mine from pro-bolt.com. Went with the Blue, but may end up getting a set of the black instead.
